BHS boys’ tennis duo Young, Lotts headed to districts

Bellefontaine High School doubles teammates Jared Young and Grayson Lotts are headed to districts after an impressive showing at the Troy Sectional Tournament.

Competing against a field of 34 doubles teams, Young and Lotts battled their way to a third-place finish to earn a spot in next Thursday’s District Tournament at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.

The Bellefontaine duo entered the sectional tournament with momentum and continued to showcase the chemistry and consistency that have defined their season. Their strong play throughout the day secured the Chiefs one of the tournament’s coveted district qualifying spots.

Young and Lotts fell in the semifinal round to Milton-Union’s Roy and Korra by scores of 6-4 and 6-0, but quickly regrouped in the third-place match.

Facing Kenton Ridge’s Patch and Doss with a district berth and podium finish on the line, the Chiefs tandem responded with one of its strongest performances of the tournament, earning a straight-set victory, 6-3, 6-4.

With the win, Young and Lotts improved to an outstanding 19-1 record on the season.

The district tournament will take place on Thursday at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, one of Ohio’s premier tennis venues and home of the Western & Southern Open.
