The Bellefontaine Chieftains turned in a strong showing Saturday at the Bethel Sprint Invitational in Huber Heights, with the girls finishing second and the boys placing fifth in a competitive 15-team field.
Bellefontaine’s success was fueled by standout performances at the top of the lineup. Brooklyne Kuntz led all scorers with 40 points, capturing first place in both the 100 freestyle and 50 butterfly. Maddie Ullom followed with 36 points, earning a win in the 50 backstroke and a third-place finish in the 100 back, setting personal records in both events.
Several other Chieftains contributed key points. Kaeleigh Flora scored 29 points with personal-best performances in the 100 IM and 50 breaststroke, while Landon Cook added 26 points on the boys side, posting PRs in the 50 backstroke and 50 breaststroke. Cody Hudson (25 points) and Grady Feasel (22 points) also turned in strong efforts, with Feasel recording a PR in the 100 IM.
The meet also highlighted significant time drops across the roster. Notable improvements included Kaeleigh Flora (-2.92, 100 IM), Landon Cook (-7.86, 50 back), Nicolas Herrera Diaz (-3.92, 50 fly), and Ella Fultz (-2.58, 50 breast), among others.
The sprint-focused format gave swimmers a chance to emphasize speed and efficiency, and the results reflected that approach as Bellefontaine athletes consistently hit season-best and personal-best times.
The Chieftains will return to action Saturday, January 31, at the CBC Championships hosted at Wright State University.
