“It was a solid start to the season,” said boys head coach Aaron LaBatt. “We saw a lot of things we need to work on, but overall, we were pleased. A lot of guys got matches and that was what mattered. I thought Zane Tevis wrestled well for not being 100 percent. Parker Knox looked solid, Charlie Bible had a nice day and Wes Morris showed a lot of grit today.”
The Chiefs will host its Jimmy Mac Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 10th.
The Bellefontaine varsity girls wrestling team had their first competition Saturday at the Girls Hammer & Anvil tournament at Western Brown High School.
Freshman Harper Penhorwood led the way for the Chieftains finishing 2-2 on the day with 2 pins earning a 4th place finish.
Freshman Madisyn Casey picked up her 1st career win and pin in her opening match before dropping her next two.
Senior Tierani Priest had some good scraps and is improving despite dropping both of her matches.
“It was a long day in the gym, but we learned and will look to continue to make 1% improvements each day,” said Head Coach Brady Hiatt.
The Lady Chiefs will hit the mat again on December 16th and 17th at the FIGHT at Findlay High School.
