One of Bellefontaine’s most accomplished athletes will be recognized on Friday.

Former BHS football star Gail Clark will be honored during the Chiefs’ home opener vs. Sidney. The formal recognition will start at 6:30 p.m.

Clark graduated from Bellefontaine in 1969, then enjoyed a stellar career at Michigan State from ’69-’72.

He was an All-Big Ten linebacker for the Spartans in ’71 and ’72. He was named an All-American following his senior season.

Clark then played in the NFL for the Steelers, Bears, and Patriots.

Gail returned home and has served as an assistant football coach at BHS for 40 years.

The Class of ’69 paid for a bench honoring Clark. The bench is located in front of the Knowlton Fieldhouse.

A bench remembering fellow ’69 great Jesse Williams is located nearby.
