The Bellefontaine boys wrestling team turned in its strongest performance of the season Saturday, finishing third at its own Chieftain Duals with a 3-2 record in dual competition.
The Chiefs earned convincing wins over West Carrollton, Eaton and Greenon, highlighted by a narrow one-point victory over Eaton that helped secure their podium finish.

Bellefontaine head coach Aaron LaBatt praised his team’s effort and growth throughout the day.
“We wrestled the best we have all season and are continuing to improve. We moved the lineup around in a few duals and were able to pull out a tight one with Eaton. Overall, it was a good day for us and the kids should be proud.”
LaBatt also highlighted several individual efforts.
“Jared was on a mission today and dominated his opponents. Andrew had a strong day also going 5-0. Ru is putting together consistent and successful performances. Hunter Werling also stepped up in more than one dual, and I was real proud of him.”
Bellefontaine closes out the regular season Saturday at Kenton Ridge for the Central Buckeye Conference Championships.
