The Benjamin Logan boys bowling team opened their season with an impressive showing Saturday at the Division II State Kick-Off Tournament, held at HP Lanes in Columbus.
The Raiders placed 11th out of 28 teams in the qualifying round and pushed their way to an 8th-place finish in the championship round. Coaches Barney and Kerri Sullivan praised the group for exceeding expectations in what is considered a rebuilding year. With several young bowlers stepping up, the team delivered a confident performance in their first tournament of the season.
Dylan Stewart led the Raiders with a 547 series, rolling games of 182, 192, and 173. Colton Klopfenstein followed closely with a 517 series (132, 229, 156), while Jace Lyons added a consistent 511 series (160, 173, 178). Additional contributions came from Kaden Stevens, who posted a 168 game, and Pierce Jenkins, who recorded a 351 series, highlighted by a 206 game.
In Championship Round A, Ben Logan defeated Lutheran West (Rocky River) 615–562 across three baker games. The Raiders’ run ended in Round B with a loss to Bucyrus, 559-421. Coventry (Akron) went on to win the tournament, defeating Liberty-Benton (Findlay) in the final round.
Ben Logan returns to the lanes on December 10th to face North Union at TP Lanes. The match begins at 4 p.m., and admission is free — a perfect chance to come out and cheer on the Raiders.
Mechanicsburg also turned in a strong performance at the D2 Kick-Off Classic. The Indians qualified 7th overall and battled in a tight first-round elimination match, ultimately coming up just short in a 509–499 finish.
Mechanicsburg was led by an impressive outing from Tristen Mason, who made the All-Tournament Team with a 588 series. Matthew Dean also delivered a big day, rolling a 557 series to help pace the Indians.
