Burg boys’ golf finishes ninth at Adena Invite; Indian Lake tops Riverside

The local boys’ golf season stayed busy Tuesday with area teams competing in both invitational and regular-season action.

Mechanicsburg

Mechanicsburg finished ninth out of 24 teams at the 18-hole Adena Invitational in Chillicothe, competing against one of the strongest fields of the early season.

Max Popovich led the Indians with an 84, highlighted by one birdie, nine pars, and three bogeys. Mason Bandy followed with an 85 after recording 11 pars and three bogeys. MJ Blose carded an 86 with one birdie, while Ryder Buxton added a 91 and Elliott Moore finished with a 92.

The Indians return to action Wednesday morning at the Champaign County Invitational at Woodland Golf Club.

Indian Lake

Indian Lake earned a convincing 166-210 victory over Riverside in a nine-hole match Tuesday at Prairie View Golf Club.

Senior Jaxon Snipes earned medalist honors with an even-par 36 to pace the Lakers. Freshman Mason Berg followed with a 39, while senior Crew McPherson shot 43. Jesse Carder added a 48, with Eli Cummins and Grant Wickline each finishing at 52.

The win gives the Lakers positive momentum as they continue the early portion of their season.
