The Calvary Christian Lady Spartans picked up their first win of the season Saturday, defeating Metro Buckeye Conference foe Yellow Springs 7-0 on their home field.
Lydia Davie recorded the shutout in goal, while Scout Andre and Sarah King helped lead the Lady Spartans defensively.
Jenna Palmer assisted Eden LeCrone three minutes into the match to open the scoring.
Senior Makarios Kariuki then scored her first goal of the season off an assist from her sister, Charis Kariuki.
With 15:45 remaining in the first half, Palmer’s pressure in the box forced an own goal to give Calvary Christian a 3-0 lead.
Just 20 seconds later, Blythe Lowe put the ball into play inside the 18-yard box, and Kariuki finished the play for her second goal of the day.
Evie White stretched the lead to 5-0 before halftime, scoring off a crossing assist from LeCrone.
After a scoreless 15 minutes to begin the second half, Reagan Roell broke loose and scored her first goal of the season to make it 6-0.
With just seven seconds remaining, Leeah White assisted Emily Cronkleton for her first goal of the season, completing the 7-0 victory.
Karis Willetts and McKinley Roell also turned in notable defensive performances as the Lady Spartans secured their first win and a shutout of the season.
