The Calvary Christian Lady Spartans delivered a commanding performance on Saturday, September 6, earning their second win of the season with a 7-2 road victory over the Yellow Springs Bulldogs. The win improves Calvary’s record to 2-3 and marks an impressive conference triumph.
The Spartans came out firing, with Eden Lecrone wasting no time by opening the scoring just two minutes into the match off a well-placed assist from Megan Palmer. Lecrone struck again just a minute later, this time firing a shot from the top of the 18-yard box to give Calvary an early 2-0 advantage.
Mak Kariuki added to the lead in the 22nd minute, netting her first goal of the afternoon. Shortly after, Lydia Davie found the back of the net with 19 minutes left in the first half, also off an assist from Palmer. Blythe Lowe added a fifth goal from the left side just before halftime.
Yellow Springs managed to get on the board with two minutes remaining in the first half, as Gilley scored to narrow the gap. However, the Spartans responded quickly and emphatically, scoring two more goals before the break—one each from Kariuki and Davie—to close the half with a dominant 7-1 lead.
Calvary’s defense and midfield continued to shine in the second half. Maddison Freeland recorded two saves in goal, allowing just two goals throughout the match. Annagail Lambert and Sarah King anchored the midfield, while Reagan Roell, Allie Schmidt, and Kacey Andre provided strong support along the back line to stifle any further Bulldogs attack.
The Lady Spartans will look to carry their momentum into Tuesday’s away matchup against Middletown Christian.
