Calvary’s soccer team faced a challenging opponent on Thursday night, suffering only their third loss of the season in a 4-2 defeat against Botkins.
The match began with Botkins showcasing their offensive prowess, scoring early and taking control. Nehemiah Dillon gave Calvary a glimmer of hope by converting a penalty kick, bringing the halftime score to 3-1 in favor of Botkins.
In the second half, Botkins added to their lead, but Calvary fought back with a goal from Cohen McDonald, bringing the score to 4-2. Despite their efforts, Calvary was unable to close the gap further.
With this loss, Calvary’s record now stands at 11-3-1.
The team is set to conclude their regular season with an away game against New Knoxville next Thursday. Following that match, they will turn their focus to tournament play, eager to regroup and make a strong push in the postseason.
