Calvary, Riverside and WL-S girls pick up wins – Thursday HS & MS basketball results

Several area basketball teams hit the hardwood Thursday evening.

In High School girls’ action:

The Calvary Christian varsity team beat Spring Valley 36-22.

Leading the way for the Lady Spartans was Hannah Marlow with a double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds. Abigail Reinhard was one point shy of recording a triple-double. She tallied 10 steals, 10 rebounds, and 9 points. Madhuri Cook chipped in 5 points, KayLee Hurley added 3 points and 5 steals, and Anna Kratz netted 2 points and 3 rebounds.

Calvary is 1-0.

Riverside’s varsity team edged past Northridge 32-29.

Leading the way for the Lady Pirates were Avery Perk, Emma Saylor, and Jade Copas with 8 points each.

Riverside won the JV game 39-17.

Kaylee Fulkerson had 15 points and Zoie Armbruster had 11 rebounds.

The West Liberty-Salem varsity team defeated Triad 47-26.

For the Lady Tigers, Chaley Wade led with 19 points, Ava Astroino tallied 12 points, Maddie Cole and Addie McAuley each scored 5 points, Megan Hollar chipped in with 4 points and Bailey Poppe netted 2 points.

For Triad, Emma Ferguson had 8 points. Madi Cox had 6 points and 7 rebounds. Mia LeMay had 6 points, 2 blocks, and 7 rebounds. Ashlyn McCoy also had 6 rebounds.

The Lady Cardinals are now 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the OHC.

West Liberty-Salem improves to 2-2 on the year.

The Lady Tigers JV team also beat Triad 22-6.

For the Lady Cardinals, Arlo Monroe had 3 points.

The Triad JV team is now 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the OHC.

Triad will play at home against Mechanicsburg on Saturday.

Middle School:

The Bellefontaine 7th grade girls’ team beat Anna 20-17.

The Lady Chiefs used a strong 4th quarter to come from behind.

Sloan Stolly and Joy Fogan lead Bellefontaine with 6 points apiece. Vanessa Friedrich added 4 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Ava Oppy and Amari Hunsicker rounded out the scoring.

The Lady Chiefs improve to 2-0 on the season.

The Bellefontaine 8th grade team fell to Anna 27-20.

Leading the Lady Chiefs was Hailee Lamb with 9 points and 4 rebounds. Paige Smith added 4 points and 5 boards. Sophia Jacobs added three, and Grace Brown and Emma Whitaker added two. Presley Vigansky added five blocked shots. Hannah Wilson and Alivia Wage also played good defense.

Bellefontaine will return to action next Thursday at Shawnee.

The Indian Lake 7th grade girls lost to North Union 28-18.

Rya Pequignot led the Lady Lakers with 10 points and Alivia Kinney had 6 points.

In the 8th grade game, Indian Lake fell to North Union 38-21.

Courtney Altstaeter paced the Lady Lakers with 11 points and Addy Roby chipped in with 10 points.

The Riverside 7th grade boys needed overtime to edge past Northridge 30-29.

Brody Osborne led the Pirates with 16 points, Laithen Snyder chipped in with 6 points.

In the 8th grade contest, Riverside fell to Northridge 47-26.

Colton Hurley tallied 13 points for the Pirates and Syler Clark added 12 points.

The Urbana 7th-grade boys lost to Trotwood 36-29.

Drew Dixon led with 12 points and Roman Swain had 10 points.

The Hillclimbers 8th-grade boys also lost to Trotwood 62-49.

Grady Lantz paced Urbana with 23 points. Kaden Underwood chipped in with 13 points.

The West Liberty-Salem 7th-grade girls handled business and defeated West Jefferson 40-6.

Arianna Weaver, Addi Wallen, and Lucy Cole led the Lady Tigers with 10 points apiece. Navaeh Gravely chipped in with 6 points, and Delaney Anane-Sefah and Kayla Good each recorded 2 points.

In the 8th grade game, West Liberty-Salem girls defeated West Jefferson 36-19

For the Lady Tigers, Belle Sarvor led with 13 points, Maddie Adkins added 10 points, Audri Evilsizor had 4 points, and Kiersten Stoll, Grace Jones, and Emma Liggett all tallied 3 points each.

The West Liberty-Salem 7th grade boys beat West Jefferson 25-20.

For the Tigers, Beckett Sullivan led with 7 points, Zade Bieleski and Austin Markin each scored 4 points, and Brayan Gullett, Asher Cole, Liam Barger, Reagan McCullough, and Zeke Longshore all tallied 2 points each.

The 8th-grade Tigers topped West Jefferson 37-30.

Tucker Searles led with 10 points and 5 rebounds, Braden Hershberger chipped in 10 points and grabbed 3 boards, and Troy Christison tallied 6 points and 4 steals.
