Chiefs boys’ tennis defeats rival Hillclimbers

The Bellefontaine Chieftains earned a solid 4-1 victory over Urbana in boys tennis action, using strength in singles play and a sweep of the doubles matches to secure the win.

Bellefontaine picked up two key wins in singles competition. At first singles, Fissel battled through a three-set match, dropping the opening set before rallying to win 4-6, 6-0, 6-0. Scott added another point at third singles with a straight-sets victory, 6-3, 6-2. Urbana’s lone point came at second singles, where McNealy defeated Phillips in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2.

The Chieftains sealed the match with dominant performances in doubles. The first doubles team of Young and Lotts cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win, while Howard and Lloyd controlled second doubles with a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

With the win, Bellefontaine showed strong depth across its lineup, especially in doubles play, while Urbana managed to avoid the sweep with a solid showing at second singles.
