The Bellefontaine Lady Chieftain tennis team made history on Monday, accomplishing something that hasn’t been done in over three decades—advancing a player to the district tournament.
Freshman duo Mia Brown and Rylee Crabtree, the No. 3 seed in the sectional tournament, won both of their matches to secure a spot in the semifinals on Friday, October 3rd. Their performance also earned them a trip to the district tournament at Lindner Tennis Center in Mason on Thursday, October 9th.
The last time the Lady Chiefs sent players to districts was in 1993, when Emily Ellis and Molli Munz advanced after a third-place finish at sectionals.
Also putting in a strong showing at this year’s sectional tournament was the doubles team of Ava Dolan and Olivia Warye, who won two out of three matches.
