Chiefs fall in 5 sets; Tigers advance to second round – Monday tournament volleyball results

The Bellefontaine varsity team fell to Graham in the opening round of the DII Sectional Tournament in 5 sets: 25-17, 13-25, 23-25, 25-18, and 10-15.

The game was played at Tecumseh.

For the Chiefs:

Kelsie Snapp led with 12 kills, and 27 digs, and was 20/20 serving with 4 aces.

Bellefontaine Volleyball team

Taylor Banta added 14 kills and was 20/21 serving with 2 aces.

Latoya Rogan tallied 33 digs and was 14/15 serving with 2 aces.

Reagan Standley chipped in on defense adding 6 digs.

Lily Palmer had 15 assists, 11 digs, and was 14/15 serving with 2 aces.

Madilynn Zedeker had 15 assists and was 14/15 serving with an ace.

Olivia Ullom added 3 kills and 4 blocks.

Kylie Adams added 3 blocks.

Julia Nelson had 2 kills and a block.

Delmary Zayas-Colon added a block.

Although the Chiefs’ season came to an end, they were able to break 7 school records:

Lily Palmer broke the career assist record Saturday vs Ben Logan, Palmer ends her career at BHS with 1,200 assists (the previous record was 1,180).

Palmer also broke the career Aces record ending her career with 151 (the previous record was 100).

Latoya Rogan broke the season’s dig record, ending the season with 518 digs (the previous record was 485).

Along with Palmer and Rogan, Madilynn Zedeker broke the season serving % ending the season with 96.9%, the previous record was 93.3% held by Alisa Hatcher (2000).

This season the team served at 93.5% which breaks the previous record from 2000 which was 88%.

The team recorded 742 assists, breaking the season assist record previously held from 2012 with 715 assists.

The Chiefs also broke the season dig record of 1,594 from 2019, with a total of 1,674 digs this season.

Bellefontaine ends their season 11-12.

Graham advances to the second round and will play #5 Indian Lake Wednesday evening at 7:30 back at Tecumseh.

The West Liberty-Salem varsity team defeated Northridge in the opening round of the DIII Sectional Tournament in straight sets: 25-7, 25-14, & 25-7, held at Brookville.

For the Tigers:

Bailey Poppe – 15 kills, 3 digs, 7/7 serving, 9 assists, 1 block

Londyn Loveless – 17 assists, 13/13 serving with 5 aces, 4 digs

Leah Ropp – 6 digs, 1 kill, 26/28 serving with 6 aces

Naomi Cole – 3 kills, 2 digs, 1 block

Briley Sullivan – 4 kills, 1 dig

Lexy Lee – 3/3 hitting with 1 kill

Chaley Wade – 6 kills, 2 digs, 7/8 serving with 2 aces, 1 assist

Olivia Wilcox – 6 digs, 10/10 serving with 3 aces, 7/7 on serve receive, 1 assist

Ava Poppe – 3 kills, 4 digs, 5/8 serving

WL-S improves to 18-5.

The Tigers will play Arcanum on Saturday at Brookville. The game starts at 12:30 p.m.

WL-S is the #4 seed in the tournament.
