Several area volleyball teams were in action Wednesday, with Bellefontaine wrapping up its regular season against Kenton Ridge, while the Bellefontaine and Riverside middle school teams began tournament play.
Kenton Ridge 3, Bellefontaine 0 — Varsity
The Bellefontaine Lady Chieftains closed out the regular season Wednesday night against Kenton Ridge, falling in straight sets 25-12, 25-11 and 25-19.
Bellefontaine struggled early against the Cougars, but the Chiefs battled back in the third set and stayed step-for-step with the visitors before a few consecutive errors late in the set helped Kenton Ridge pull away.
Jillian Ullom led Bellefontaine with 12 digs and four assists while going six-for-seven serving.
Ava Layman added six kills and seven digs while going nine-for-nine serving.
Alayna Boyd recorded four kills, three blocks and two digs.
Presley Vigansky finished with 15 assists, three kills and three digs while going five-for-five serving.
Ellie Bosiljevac had three kills and three digs, while Lexey Brown added two blocks and a kill while going four-for-four serving.
Arianna Rangel had a kill and two digs while going five-for-six serving. Celine Blinn went four-for-four on serve receive.
The Lady Chieftains finish the regular season with a 6-16 record and will prepare for sectional tournament play beginning the week of Oct. 19.
Kenton Ridge 2, Bellefontaine 1 — JV
The JV Lady Chieftains also battled Kenton Ridge before falling 16-25, 25-22 and 20-25.
Gianna Davis led Bellefontaine with eight kills and 11 digs. She also went 10-for-12 serving with an ace and was four-for-five on serve receive.
Brookelyn Oaks had 19 digs, three assists and a kill.
Ellie Bosiljevac added seven kills and 10 digs while going seven-for-eight on serve receive and seven-for-seven serving with an ace.
Rylyn Hoskins-Rose finished with six kills, eight digs and a solo block.
Diana Martinez had three kills, two blocks and two digs.
Rosie Lightle recorded 14 assists, nine digs and a kill while going 12-for-13 serving.
Alexis Hogan added seven assists and 10 digs while going 13-for-14 serving with three aces.
Alejandra Meregote had two digs and went two-for-two on serve receive, while Gracelynn DeLong and Hailey Augustus each had two digs. Lexi McMckirahan added an assist and a dig.
The JV Chiefs finish the season 6-16.
Bellefontaine 2, Urbana 0 — 7th Grade
The seventh-grade Lady Chiefs opened tournament play with a two-set victory over Urbana, 25-19 and 25-17.
Bexley Daring led Bellefontaine with 15 digs, three kills and six aces.
Devyn Hogan had seven kills, six digs, a block, two assists and two aces.
Emma Layman added three digs, two kills, 10 assists and an ace.
Addy Harden finished with two kills, two digs and three aces.
Miley McKirahan added three aces, while Eliza Blinn had two digs. Carlota Moran and Brooklyn Mosley each recorded a dig, with Mosley adding two aces.
Harper Oakley had a kill, while Lariah Valencia finished with three digs.
Urbana 2, Bellefontaine 1 — 8th Grade
The eighth-grade Chiefs came up short against Urbana in three sets, 25-13, 21-25 and 16-25.
Braelynn Neer led Bellefontaine with eight kills, six digs, an assist and an ace.
Skylar Phan had 24 digs, two kills and six aces.
Alivia Rogan added eight digs, five kills and two aces.
Arianna Rumer finished with 14 digs, seven kills, seven assists and two aces.
Evie Schmidt recorded nine digs, 11 assists, a kill and an ace.
Marissa Oaks had eight digs, while Amaya Branson added four.
Mia Regula and Myra Varner each had three digs, and Charley Frazier added one.
The Chiefs will host their tournament opener Monday.
Bethel 2, Riverside 0 — 8th Grade Tournament
Riverside traveled to Bethel for the opening round of tournament play and fell in two sets, 25-7 and 25-15.
Brylee Shephard recorded four points, two aces and a kill.
Kinsley Crawford added four points, three aces and a kill.
Ruth Morrison had two points, while Bella Shultz recorded a point, an ace and a tip.
Bella Beaty also added a point.
Riverside’s seventh-grade team will travel to Lehman Catholic Thursday for its first-round tournament match. First serve is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
Benjamin Logan 2, Northwestern 0 — 8th Grade
The Benjamin Logan eighth-grade Raiders defeated Northwestern in straight sets, 25-23 and 25-19.
Benjamin Logan 2, Northwestern 0 — 7th Grade
Benjamin Logan’s seventh-grade team also earned a two-set victory over Northwestern, winning 25-19 and 25-16.
