The Bellefontaine Chieftains turned in an outstanding performance at the District Swim Meet, highlighted by personal bests across nearly every event and a state qualification by senior standout Brooklyne Kuntz.

Every senior on the roster closed their district meet with a season-best swim, while most races resulted in new personal records. Kuntz qualified for the State Meet in both the 100 butterfly and the 500 freestyle, continuing a dominant postseason run.

Coaches praised the team’s focus and execution, noting that athletes set clear goals and delivered when it mattered most. Both Chieftain relay teams dropped more than four seconds, with each swimmer contributing an improved split. Individually, Andrew Myers posted a personal record in the 200 individual medley, and Kaeleigh Flora recorded her second-fastest time of the season in the 100 butterfly.

Kuntz’s district meet was especially notable. She earned a YMCA National qualifying cut in the 100 butterfly, lowering her own school record to 59.27 seconds and finishing seventh for her first career podium appearance at Districts. She followed that swim with another season-best performance in the 500 freestyle, also placing seventh.

The Chieftains’ coaching staff said the team has firmly made its mark this season and expressed pride in every athlete’s effort and growth. Attention now turns to the State Meet, where Kuntz will compete on Thursday and Friday, February 26–27.
