Chiefs, Spartans win in volleyball; WL-S 8th-grade win OHC tournament

The Bellefontaine varsity volleyball team beat Kenton in 4 sets Saturday (25-21), (10-25), (25-22), (25-15).

Olivia Ullom led the Chiefs with 9 kills, 10 digs, and 1 block, and was perfect serving.

Kylie Adams added 3 blocks, 5 kills, and 5 digs.

Latoya Rogan tallied 24 digs.

Kelsie Snapp chipped in with 6 kills and 13 digs.

The Chieftain JV Red team beat Kenton in straight sets (25-10), (25-13).

Gabbe Hoon led the offense with 5 kills.

Ava Reeves led the defense with 12 digs.

Alexza Clifton chipped in 9 digs and 3 aces.

Calvary Christian’s varsity team defeated Christian Academy in 3 sets: (25-15), (25-8), (25-14).

Ruby Slemmons had 6 aces, served 25 points, and 7 assists.

Madelyn Trittschuh had 8 kills and Abby Jenkins had 7.

Lucy Jarvis also had 7 assists.

Isabel Schmidt and Trittschuh each had a block.

This was the last regular season conference game for the Spartans. They are now first in the North Division of OVCC.

Calvary has one more regular season game against Urbana next Saturday before tournaments begin.

The Spartans are now 13-5 overall.

Middle School:

The Bellefontaine 7th-grade team lost to North Union in the CBC tournament in straight sets: 18-25, 11-25.

Kinnley Dunn led the team with 3 kills, an ace, and 2 digs.

Laney Storm had a kill, an ace, and a block.

Ava Oppy had 3 assists and 2 aces.

Hailey Augustus had 2 aces and Brooklyne Kuntz had an ace.

The Riverside 7th-grade team beat Miami East in TRC tournament play in straight sets: 25-15 and 25-19.

For the Pirates:

Riverside then lost to Bethel in straight sets in the championship game: 14-25 and 13-25.

The Pirates finished the season 3rd in the league and 2nd in the league tournament.

West Liberty-Salem 8th grade volleyball team

The West Liberty-Salem 7th and 8th-grade volleyball teams competed in the OHC tournament Saturday.

The 7th-grade Tigers played Northeastern and lost in straight sets: 17-25 and 14-25.

Emma Schmelzer and Aubra Wiant each had an ace.

The 8th-grade Tigers beat Mechanicsburg in the semi-final game in straight sets: 25-11 and 25-21.

The Tigers then defeated Fairbanks in the championship game in straight sets: 25-16 and 25-20.

For the 8th-grade Tigers:

Sophia Landon went 22 for 23 serving with 5 aces, 20 assists, and 4 digs

Emma Liggett went 17 for 18 serving with 6 aces and 9 kills

Zoe Carter went 19 for 20 serving with 8 aces, 3 digs, 3 kills, and 1 assist

Belle Sarver went 13 for 13 serving with 5 aces, 11 digs, and 2 kills

Lilli Heminger had 12 kills and 3 digs

Reagan Winters went 13 for 15 serving with 5 aces, and 4 digs

Kiersten Stoll went 11 for 12 serving with 3 aces, 11 kills, and 4 digs

Skyler Ropp had 5 digs and 2 kills

Eliza Halterman had 2 digs

West Liberty-Salem’s 8th-grade team finished first in both the tournament and regular season, going 17-1, losing only two sets the entire year.
