Chiefs Tevis, Young go 2-2 at Tournament

Bellefontaine senior Zane Tevis and sophomore Jared Young both finished their season Saturday at the Division 2 District Tournament in Wilmington.

Tevis (138) and Young (113) both went 2-2 over the weekend.

The Chieftain duo were one win shy of placing in the top six and two wins away from qualifying for the state tournament.

Tevis won his first-round match Friday and upset a sectional champion from another sectional tournament.

He lost in the championship quarterfinals by a 12-4 score to the eventual third-place finisher.

He then won a consolation match, before losing in the consolation quarterfinals to the sixth-place finisher.

Tevis finishes the season with a 31-14 record.

Young lost his first-round match but bounced back with two straight consolation wins.

He then lost in the consolation quarterfinals to the eventual third-place finisher.

Young ended the season with a 30-20 record.

As a team, Bellefontaine finished 34th out of 48 teams.

Graham won the district title with 236 points, Bishop Watterson was second with 180 points and Vandalia Butler was third with 101.5 points.
