A weekend of strikes, spares, and standout performances highlighted local bowling as area boys and girls teams competed in tournaments across the region. Bellefontaine, Benjamin Logan, and Mechanicsburg all turned in strong efforts, with multiple athletes earning All-Tournament honors. Here’s a look at all the action.
Bellefontaine Boys Varsity Take Top Qualifying Spot
The Bellefontaine Boys Varsity Bowling Team made a big statement at the Merry Monarch Mash-Up at TP Lanes, finishing as the top qualifier with a team total of 3,413.
Two Chiefs earned All-Tournament Team honors:
David Allen, who was dominant with games of 192, 225, and 233 for a 650 series
Paul “Van” La Follette, who followed closely with a 623 series off games of 213, 218, and 192
Other strong contributions included:
Alex Williams – 199, 212
Alex Moon – 198
Timmy Phillips – 191
“I was very pleased with the teamwork and the grit the team showed,” said Coach Overholser.
Thanks to their top qualifying performance, Bellefontaine earned a first-round bye. They defeated Marysville JV in the second round before falling in a tight match to Delaware in round three. The Chiefs finished tied for 3rd overall with Indian Lake.
Bellefontaine JV Boys Compete in First Tournament
The JV Chiefs turned in a strong showing in their season’s first tournament.
Leading the way:
Christian Bollack – 174, 212, 190 for a 576 series
Corbin Stachler – 172, 127, 151 for a 450
Parker Hubbard – 146, 145, 125 for a 416
In the Baker match, Bellefontaine faced Bethel Varsity, dropping two close games 155–160 and 149–161.
“I was very proud of how hard they tried, even knowing they were bowling a varsity team,” Coach Overholser added.
The Chiefs return to action December 12th at TP Lanes.
Lady Raiders Finish 3rd at Elks Invitational
The Benjamin Logan Lady Raiders traveled to Centerville for the Elks Invitational and earned an impressive 3rd-place finish out of 21 teams, posting a total score of 3315 through three conventional games and six baker games.
They missed the runner-up spot by just 88 pins.
Aubrey Zedlitz led the Raiders with games of 214, 224, and 174 for a 612 series, earning 3rd place on the All-Tournament Team, only 17 pins from first and 4 pins from second.

The Lady Raiders are back in action Wednesday, December 10th at TP Lanes in a varsity-only match against North Union at 4 p.m.
Mechanicsburg Girls Finish 5th at State Kick-Off
The Mechanicsburg girls bowling team placed 5th at the Division II State Kick-Off Tournament at HP Lanes in Columbus.
The Lady Indians qualified 4th overall to reach the Championship Round, where they defeated Wynford (Bucyrus) before falling to Coldwater.
Ashton Waller led the team with games of 175, 179, and 211 for a 565 series, finishing 4th individually and earning All-Tournament Team honors.
