The Chieftain girls tennis team hosted Piqua on Thursday night, earning a close 3-2 victory in varsity play.
Key wins came at first singles and first and second doubles.
At second doubles, Adison Postle and Maria Casanas were in peak form, cruising to victory behind Postle’s serving and Casanas’ strong net play.
At first singles, Ava Dolan won in two sets thanks to solid baseline play.
The freshman doubles team of Mia Brown and Rylee Crabtree continued their hot streak, improving to 6-0 on the season at the first doubles position.

- 1st Doubles: Mia Brown / Rylee Crabtree (B) def. Szachta / Rudy 6-3, 6-1
- 2nd Doubles: Adison Postle / Maria Casanas (B) def. Hale / Hall 6-1, 6-1
The junior varsity Chiefs also came away with a win, defeating Piqua 2-0:
- 1st JV Doubles: Layla Hoyt / Oriana Vasquez (B) def. Lin / Liu 8-4
- 2nd JV Doubles: Charlie Hughes / Vanshika Shah (B) def. Price / Watkins 5-4
The victory brings the Chieftain netters to 3-3 overall on the season.
Next up, the Chiefs will travel to Springfield High School on Monday for a non-conference match, starting at 4:30 p.m.
