Chieftain golf teams bring victory home to highlight Wednesday results

Bellefontaine, Benjamin Logan and Indian Lake golf teams were all in action Wednesday, with the Chieftains earning a boys victory over Tecumseh and the Lakers picking up a decisive win over Kenton. Bellefontaine also defeated Benjamin Logan in a CBC girls crossover.

Bellefontaine 174, Tecumseh 193 (boys)

Bellefontaine picked up a strong 174-193 victory over Tecumseh Wednesday.

Noah Smith led the Chieftains with a 42 to earn match medalist honors.

Ean Fultz, Hudson Banta and Tyler Rossey each carded a 44 to tie for second overall. Keaton Dinovo added a 47, while Sammy Strayer finished with a 52.

In the JV match, Colson Garver led Bellefontaine with a 47. Beckett Kessler followed with a 54, while Christian Sterling finished with a 58.

Bellefontaine 202, Benjamin Logan 212 (girls)

The Bellefontaine Lady Chieftains picked up a big cross-county rivalry victory Wednesday, defeating Benjamin Logan 202-212 in a CBC crossover match at Liberty Hills.

Bellefontaine was led by a pair of outstanding rounds, with Allie Myers posting a season-low 49 and Ella Fultz recording a career-low 49.

Olivia Dearwester added a 51, while Paxton Stewart rounded out the team score with a 53.

The Lady Chieftains’ consistent play helped them break the 210 mark and secure the victory over their cross-county rivals.

For Benjamin Logan, Leah Braddock led the Lady Raiders with a 50, followed by Catherine Bramlage with a 51. Kaylynn Crumm carded a 55, while Sophia “River” VanVoorhis finished with a 56.

Montana Coleman added a 67, followed by Kaydence Hamlin with a 69, Alayna Johnson with a 70, Elizabeth Bramlage with a 73 and Laurel Smith with a 77.

Bellefontaine returns to the course Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at Marion Country Club.

Benjamin Logan will also be back in action Thursday against Graham at Lakeland Golf Course.

Indian Lake 207, Kenton 277 (girls)

Indian Lake picked up a convincing 207-277 victory over Kenton Wednesday at Kenton Memorial Golf Course.

Chloe Borgerding led the Lady Lakers with a 50 to earn medalist honors. Adriana Andrus and Terra Beltz each carded a 52, while Lily Michael and Lillian Strauser rounded out the scoring with matching 53s.

Strauser’s 53 also marked a personal record.

Indian Lake will return to action Monday at Prairie View for a CBC tri-match with Benjamin Logan and North Union. Tee time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Wapakoneta 155, Indian Lake 176 (boys)

The Indian Lake boys golf team fell to Wapakoneta 155-176 Wednesday night in a non-conference matchup at Prairie View.

Jaxon Snipes led the Lakers with a 38, tying for medalist honors. Mason Berg followed with a 43, while Crew McPherson carded a 45.

Reid Roberts and Grant Wickline each shot a 50 to complete the official team score. Charlie Stimmel also competed in the varsity match and finished with a 52.

In JV action, Jesse Carder shot a 41, while Eli Cummins finished with a 48.

The Lakers fall to 4-6 on the season and will return to action Tuesday, Sept. 1, against Kenton at Prairie View.
