Chieftain swimmers post strong showing at Trotwood Invitational

The Chieftain swim teams competed in a 12-team invitational Wednesday evening at Trotwood, turning in solid performances on both sides.

The boys’ team finished second overall, trailing only Tipp City Bethel, while the girls earned a third-place finish behind Eaton and Springfield Shawnee.

Girls Results & Highlights

The Chieftain girls were led by multiple high-scoring efforts and strong personal improvements throughout the meet.

  • Brooklyne Kuntz led all Chieftain scorers with 40 points, winning both the 200 Free and the 100 Fly.

  • Kaeleigh Flora scored 30 points, placing 4th in the 100 Fly with a personal record and 4th in the 100 Back.

  • Maddie Ullom added 28 points, setting a PR while finishing 5th in the 50 Free and placing 6th in the 100 Free.

  • Ella Fultz posted one of the team’s top improvements, dropping 6 seconds in the 200 IM.

  • Ava Kunze gained valuable experience by taking on a new event, competing in the 100 Fly.

Boys Results & Highlights

The Chieftain boys delivered a strong team effort to secure their runner-up finish.

  • Beckham Harman led the boys with 29 points, winning the 100 Back and finishing 9th in the 50 Free.

  • Cody Hudson followed with 27 points, placing 4th in the 100 Breast and setting a PR in the 50 Free (7th).

  • Will Myers contributed 25 points, finishing 6th in the 200 Free and recording a PR in the 100 Free (7th).

  • Nic Herrera Diaz recorded the largest time drop of the meet for the Chieftains, cutting 13 seconds in the 200 Free.

  • Oliver Grandstaff also made a significant improvement, dropping 7.6 seconds in the 200 Free.

  • Andrew Myers stepped into new events, competing in both the 200 IM and 500 Free.

  • Landon Cook took on the 100 Breast for the first time.

  • Dalton Fraizer competed in the 100 Back as a new event.

The Chieftains return to action Saturday, December 20, traveling to Bowling Green State University for the Northwest Classic, where they will compete in a massive field of more than 600 swimmers at their preliminary site.
