The Bellefontaine Chieftain boys tennis team came up just short in a tight match against host Kenton Ridge on Tuesday, falling 3-2 in Central Buckeye Conference action.
Bellefontaine picked up wins at second singles and first doubles.
Max Fissel earned a hard-fought victory at second singles, winning 6-4, 7-5, while the duo of Bryce Harris and Elias Abrego dominated their first doubles match, 6-2, 6-0.
Kenton Ridge secured the win with victories at first and third singles, along with a come-from-behind win at second doubles.
Despite strong efforts, Bellefontaine’s Lane Howard and Jack Wilson fell in three sets, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2.
In exhibition play, M. Mathers added a win for the Chiefs, defeating Lorenz Henry 8-2.
With the loss, Bellefontaine moves to 3-3 overall and 3-2 in the CBC.
The Chiefs return to action Thursday at home against London. Match time is set for 4:30 p.m.
