Bellefontaine’s varsity volleyball team returned home for non-conference action Monday night, hosting Wapakoneta in a competitive three-set matchup. The Lady Chiefs fell to the Redskins 25-17, 25-23, 25-22.
Bellefontaine held early leads in two of the three sets, but Wapakoneta rallied each time to close out the match. The loss moves the varsity Chiefs to 2-2 on the season.
Arianna Rangel led Bellefontaine with seven kills, while going a perfect 12-for-12 from the service line with two aces. She also finished with seven digs.
Alayna Boyd recorded four kills, four assists, one ace and three digs. She was 8-for-8 serving.
Ava Layman added six kills, 11 digs and one ace, while going 8-for-8 serving and 14-for-15 on serve receive.
Presley Vigansky helped lead the offense with 19 assists and three kills. She also recorded four aces, four digs and went 13-for-14 serving and 5-for-6 on serve receive.
Lexey Brown contributed two kills, one block and three digs, while Jazmin Nelson added one kill.
Jillian Ullom anchored the defensive effort with a team-high 23 digs and was 12-for-12 serving.
Celine Blinn added two digs and was 4-for-5 on serve receive.
The JV Chiefs bounced back with a strong performance, defeating Wapakoneta in straight sets, 26-24 and 25-21.
Rosie Lightle led Bellefontaine with four kills, four assists, eight digs and one ace.
Brookelyn Oaks was 14-for-17 on serve receive and added four digs. She also went 5-for-5 serving with two aces.
Alexis Hogan directed the offense with 11 assists, while adding two aces, two digs and one kill.
Gianna Davis contributed four kills and 10 digs, while going 9-for-9 serving with one ace and 4-for-4 on serve receive.
Ellie Bosiljevac added two kills, three aces, three digs and one assist while going a perfect 14-for-14 serving.
Diana Martinez recorded one block and two digs, while Hailey Augustus added one kill. Rylyn Hoskins-Rose finished with two digs and went 4-for-4 from the service line.
The JV victory moves the Chiefs to 2-2 on the season.
Both Bellefontaine teams will have a quick turnaround, hosting Northwestern Tuesday in their next matchup.
