Chieftain volleyball falls to Kenton Ridge; more Thursday volleyball scores

Bellefontaine’s varsity volleyball team came up short on the road Thursday night, falling to Kenton Ridge in straight sets: 25-22, 30-28, 25-12.

Despite the loss, the Lady Chiefs had several strong individual performances. Madi Zedeker led the offense with 24 assists, added 9 digs, and was perfect from the service line, going 13-for-13. Kelsie Snapp delivered 13 kills, 8 digs, a solo block, and also served flawlessly. Kaeleigh Flora contributed 9 kills, 4 digs, and perfect serving, while Ava Layman added 6 kills, 9 digs, and was also perfect from the line. Jillian Ullom recorded 7 digs and went 11-for-11 serving with an ace, and Presley Vigansky was 12-for-12 serving with 3 aces.

With the loss, Bellefontaine moves to 8-2 overall and 2-2 in the CBC Kenton Trail Division.

In junior varsity action, Bellefontaine’s Red squad dropped their match in two sets, 25-15 and 25-23.

Ava Oppy led the team with 6 kills and 5 digs. Rosie Lightle dished out 9 assists, while Alayna Boyd added 7 assists, a solo block, and perfect serving. Zoey Conner contributed 4 kills, 7 digs, and served perfectly. Brooklyne Kuntz added 5 digs, Lexey Brown had a solo block and 4 kills, and Celine Blinn chipped in 7 digs with perfect serving.

The Chiefs return to action Saturday as they travel to Graham for a CBC Crossover match.

 

Indian Lake hosted Northwestern, with varsity taking a thrilling 5-set win: 18-25, 25-18, 25-21, 23-25, 15-9.

Top performers for the Lady Lakers are listed accordingly:

  • Courtney Altstaetter had 13 kills and 2 blocks
  • Mackenzie Miller had 9 kills and 21 digs
  • Annie Rapp had 8 kills, 9 digs, and 3 aces
  • Addyson Roby had 49 assists, 1 block, 14 digs, and 1 ace
  • Addison Beck had 14 digs
  • Riley Ross played a stellar defensive game with 32 digs and a perfect serving game, going 13/13

The Indian Lake junior varsity team won in 3 sets: 25-18, 21-25, 25-19. Leading for the JV squad were:

  • Taylor Duff- 6 kills
  • Claire Tidwell – 5 kills
  • Bella Everhart – 4 kills
  • Lux Kipker – 11 assists
  • Piper Warnecke – 13 digs

The Indian Lake freshman won in 2 sets: 25-14, 25-9.

To lead the Lakers:

  • Makayle Clary had 6 digs
  • Taylor Duff 6 kills, 4 aces
  • Audra Harford had 3 kills
  • Piper Robinson had 4 kills
  • Claire Tidwell had 3 kills, 3 aces

The Lakers improve to 10-1 on the season and 4-0 in the CBC. They will travel to Waynesfield Goshen on Monday.

 

The Benjamin Logan Lady Raiders traveled to North Union to take on the Wildcats in a CBC Mad River Conference Match. North Union won in straight sets: 25-13, 25-17, 25-19.

Riverside volleyball played at Covington on Thursday, September 11.

Varsity lost in 3 sets: 25-7, 25-6, 4-25.

JV won in 2 sets: 25-19 and 25-20.

Ellie Zwiebel had 9 assists. Lily Zwiebel had 5 digs. Madison Schindelwolf had 3 aces. Addison Shoe added 6 kills.

The 8th-grade team played a great match but still suffered a loss: 25-22 and 25-15.

  • Bella Robinson 6 points with 4 aces, 1 tip, and 1 kill
  • Lillian Jackson 5 points with 1 ace, 2 tips, and 2 kills

The 7th-grade squad played a great match and won in 2 sets with scores of 25-14 and 25-17.

The West Liberty-Salem Tigers swept the Greenview Rams: 25-12, 25-16, 25-9, moving their record to 7-2.

The 8th-grade Lady Tigers improved to 8-2 after defeating Greenview 25-17, 25-23.  The team stats were 14 kills, 11 assists, 9 aces, and 47 digs.

The 7th-grade Lady Tigers dropped a 2-set game to Madison Plains, 25-16, 25-15.  The team is now 1-9 overall.  Team stats were 11 kills, 10 assists, 2 aces, 27 digs.
