Bellefontaine 3, Emmanuel Christian 2
The Bellefontaine Lady Chieftains picked up a hard-fought non-conference victory Saturday, defeating Emmanuel Christian in five sets, 19-25, 25-14, 18-25, 25-18 and 18-16.
Ava Layman led the Chieftains with 23 kills. She also went 13-for-14 serving with three aces and recorded seven digs.
Arianna Rangel added 12 kills, while Alayna Boyd finished with five kills, six digs and five aces.
Presley Vigansky directed the Bellefontaine offense with 40 assists. She also had three kills and six digs while going 16-for-18 serving with three aces.
Celine Blinn went a perfect 20-for-20 serving with four aces and added seven digs while going 6-for-7 on serve receive.
Jillian Ullom recorded 16 digs, two assists and two aces while going 28-for-32 on serve receive.
Jazmin Nelson added two kills and two digs, while Rylyn Hoskins-Rose and Gianna Davis each recorded a kill.
The varsity Chieftains improve to 5-6 on the season and will travel to conference rival Kenton Ridge Tuesday for a 6:30 p.m. first serve.
JV – Bellefontaine 2, Emmanuel Christian 1
The Bellefontaine JV team also earned a victory, overcoming a slow start to defeat Emmanuel Christian in three sets, 11-25, 25-9 and 25-14.
Gianna Davis led the Chiefs with five kills and went 9-for-11 serving with five aces. She also had six digs and went 4-for-5 on serve receive.
Rylyn Hoskins-Rose added four kills and an ace, while Hailey Augustus had two kills.
Alejandra Meregote recorded five digs and three aces while going 2-for-2 on serve receive.
Rosie Lightle finished with 11 assists, five digs and two kills. She also went 13-for-15 serving with an ace.
Alexis Hogan had five digs, four aces and four assists, while Brookelyn Oaks added five digs and two assists.
Diana Martinez recorded two kills, a block and two digs, while Ellie Irick added a kill and a dig.
The JV Chiefs improve to 4-7 and will also travel to Kenton Ridge Tuesday, with first serve scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
7th Grade – Bellefontaine 2, Benjamin Logan 0
The Bellefontaine seventh-grade Chieftains defeated Benjamin Logan in straight sets, 25-11 and 25-10, improving to 9-1 on the season.
Bexley Daring went 4-for-5 in passing and recorded 14 digs, two kills and five aces.
Devyn Hogan added nine digs, two kills, six assists and two aces, while Emma Layman finished with seven digs, five kills, six assists and an ace.
Addy Harden had two kills and an ace, while Miley McKirahan added two kills.
Brooklyn Mosley recorded an ace, and Lariah Valencia added three digs.
8th Grade – Bellefontaine 2, Benjamin Logan 1
The Bellefontaine eighth-grade girls overcame a slow start Saturday to defeat Benjamin Logan in three sets, 12-25, 25-22 and 25-8.
Braelynn Neer led the Chiefs with six kills, a block and an ace.
Skylar Phan recorded 19 digs, seven aces and two kills, while Alivia Rogan added five kills, three digs and an ace.
Arianna Rumer finished with seven digs, four kills, seven assists and an ace.
Evie Schmidt had four digs, eight assists, three aces and a kill, while Charley Frazier added two digs, two kills and two aces.
Marissa Oaks recorded five digs and an assist.
Amaya Branson and Mia Regula each had two digs, while Myra Varner and Me’lah Conklin each added a kill.
The eighth-grade Chiefs improve to 8-2 and will travel to Graham Monday.
Houston 3, Riverside 1
Riverside traveled to Houston Saturday, with the Pirates’ varsity team falling in four sets, 18-25, 26-24, 16-25 and 15-25.
Kara Klingler led Riverside with 32 assists, while Makayla Hurley recorded nine kills.
Molly Carman and Eva Dodds each added five kills.
Emilee Robinson led the Pirates with 18 digs, while Bella Robinson had 19 digs and Chloe Purtee finished with 16 digs.
JV – Riverside 2, Houston 0
The Riverside JV team earned a two-set victory over Houston, 25-15 and 25-21.
Ellie Zwiebel recorded 12 assists and four aces, while Addison Shoe added six kills.
Bella Robinson led the Pirates with 20 digs, and Kenzie Stotler finished with 11 digs.
