Cross Country Regional Championships; Several Runners Move on to State

The Lady Raiders ran Saturday at the Division II Cross Country Regional Championships at Hobart Arena in Troy, coming in 12th place.

This was the team’s second consecutive appearance at this level of competition.

Georgia Bates led the Raiders finishing the 3.1-mile course in a time of 21:19 to place 42nd in a field of 111 runners.

Completing the scoring for the Raiders were Estella Wenger 65th (22:03), Hadley Boysel 81st (22:54), Scarlett Elliott 82nd (22:55), Peyton Smith 91st (23:29), Bonnie Brunson 96th (23:52) and Nora Elliott 97th (23:52).

Indian Lake‘s sophomore Reagan Rash placed 13th with a time of 19:54 and advances to State for the second year in a row.

Sophomore Evie Wagner came in 50th (21:37), seniors KaiLea Miller finished 62nd (21:59) and Hannah Metzger finished 66th (22:10), and freshman Alicia Brielmaier was 88th (23:21) to round out the scorers. Kayleigh Taylor 92nd (23:30) and Makayla Motter 105th (26:06) also ran for the Lakers.

The Bellefontaine Chieftians ran at the Regional meet.

For the Boys, Hayden Maus came in 7th place (16:36 PR), and will advance to state.

Other Chiefs included Tony Stewart 18th (16:52), 23rd Seth Taylor (17:00 PR), 25th Jake Moreland (17:04), 49th Oliver Grandstaff (17:36), 58th Elias Abrego (17:47 PR), and coming in 72nd was Will Myers (18:23 PR).

Chieftain Grace Brown finished in 6th place Saturday at the Regionals.

Brown ran the course in a time of 19:29 and is the first Bellefontaine female XC runner to advance to the State Meet since 1995.

West Liberty-Salem, won the D3 Troy Regional meet.

For the boys: Asher Knox placed 6th (16:18.45), Caleb Larson 14th (16:55.25), Dylan King 17th (17:01.95), Troy Bradley 19th (17:06.85), Garrett Wallen 20th (17:07.35), Quentin Rudolph 25th (17:21.05), and Joey LaRoche 27th (17:24.97).

For the girls: Malia Miller and Breece Gullet led the Big Orange attack with top 10 finishes. Miller placed second (19:09.65) and Gullett 9th (19:40.21). Both times were career PR’s for the runners. The Big Orange went on to place four other runners in the top 35 with Ashley Yoder placing 19th (20:08.21), Gwen McCullough 23rd (20:33.25), Addison McAuley 26th (20:33.85) and Hattie Jacobs 32nd (20:56.17). Mallory Bostick rounded out the Big Orange placers finishing 44th (21:32.10).

The Tigers will run again Saturday at Fortress Obetz.
