Cross Country: Runners post PRs, trophies, and top finishes

It was a busy and successful weekend for area cross country teams, with athletes from Bellefontaine, Indian Lake, Benjamin Logan, and Calvary competing across multiple invitationals.

Bellefontaine High School Boys – Tiffin Invitational

The Chieftains placed 7th out of 40 full teams in a field of 270 runners at the Tiffin Invitational, pushing three into the top 30.

Bellefontaine Middle School – Spencerville Invitational

Girls:
Every runner posted a personal record as the Chiefs competed without a full squad due to injury. Two athletes earned individual awards in a field of 129.

The Benjamin Logan Middle School cross-country teams also competed in the annual Spencerville Bearcat Invitational. Both the boys and girls teams put forth strong efforts, with twelve runners recording personal best times in the 2-mile race.

The girls’ race kicked off at 11:20 a.m., and the Lady Raiders impressed with a 6th place team finish in a field of 32 teams. Leading the way was Pippa Zvansky, who ran an outstanding race and placed 10th overall out of 129 runners.

At the Elementary Fun Run, Nessa Davis placed 1st place in the mile run at 6.25, and Neriah Davis 8.09.

West Liberty-Salem

The West Liberty-Salem (WL-S) Middle School cross country teams put on a dominant display at the Spencerville Bearcat Invitational this weekend, capturing first-place team finishes in both the girls’ and boys’ divisions.

The Lady Big Orange were led by a stellar performance from Nika Matthews, who finished 4th overall out of 129 runners with a time of 12:37. WL-S placed five runners in the top 30 to clinch the team title with 34 points, well ahead of the competition.
