It was a historic weekend for the Ohio Northern University men’s bowling team, highlighted by a record-breaking performance from sophomore Zander Crouch (DeGraff/Riverside) and a career-best effort from teammate Sam King (DeGraff/Riverside) at the Ohio Bowling Conference I Tournament on Saturday at Palace Lanes in Columbus.
Crouch captured the individual title with a three-game total of 754 pins, averaging 251.3 pins per game to lead the field. His games of 276, 223, and 255 shattered the previous school record by an incredible 221 pins, marking the best individual series in program history.
King also turned in a standout performance, finishing with a 560 series and a high game of 199, good for an average of 186.7 pins per game. His total ranks as the second-best three-game series in ONU history, putting both Riverside natives atop the school’s all-time leaderboard in the same tournament.
Led by Crouch and King, the Polar Bears recorded a three-game school-record 3,002 pins in team play, averaging 200.1 pins per game, on their way to a second-place finish among 20 teams.
The Polar Bears, under third-year head coach Jeff Robinson, will be back in action Oct. 25–26 at the ABCA II in Canton, Michigan.
