Forrest hits game-winner for the Burg; Saturday girls’ basketball finals

It was a busy and exciting day on the girls’ basketball courts, highlighted by a buzzer-beater, a fourth-quarter comeback, and standout individual efforts across the area.

Last-Second Heroics Lift Mechanicsburg
Mechanicsburg pulled out a thrilling 41-40 win over Southeastern on a literal last-second shot by Clara Forrest from the volleyball line. Forrest poured in 27 points to lead the Lady Indians, with Taylor Heizer adding 10.

Southeastern won the JV matchup, 15-9.

Ben Logan Rallies at Shawnee

The Varsity Lady Raiders completed a big night by rallying past Springfield Shawnee, 51-44. Ben Logan erased a 15-point third-quarter deficit, exploding for 27 points in the fourth while holding Shawnee to just seven. Molly Siefring led the Raiders with 12 points, followed by Rylan Norviel with 10. Kylie Harner and Daylin Varner each added 9. Benjamin Logan improves to 4-4 on the season.

Both the JV and Varsity Lady Raiders will be back in action Monday night at West Liberty, with the JV game tipping off at 6:00 p.m.

WL-S Slips Past Cedarville, 35–32

West Liberty-Salem edged Cedarville in a close contest, improving to 7-1 overall and 6-1 in conference play. Addison Wallen led WL-S with 14 points, followed by Ellery Wygal with 10. Cedarville, now 5-3 overall, was paced by Christian with 11 points, while Brenna Atkins added 6 in the narrow loss.

Indian Lake Falls at North Union

The Indian Lake Lakers dropped a conference game at North Union, 66-21. Carly Strayer led Indian Lake with 8 points, while Hailey Smith added 5. The Lakers will look to regroup as they host Shawnee in their next game.

Triad Falls at Catholic Central

Triad was defeated by Catholic Central, 43-22. Jazz Ford led the Cardinals with a strong double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Gracie Martin added 7 points and 2 assists. Triad now stands at 0-7 on the season and 0-9 in OHC play.
