Friday Night Baseball: Riverside and Indian Lake Fall; West Liberty-Salem Wins

Riverside made the trip to Miami East Friday night in a league tilt but just couldn’t keep up with the state-ranked Vikings.

The Pirates hung close through 5 innings trailing 4-1 before Miami East put the game away with 3 runs in 5th and 2 runs in the 6th.

Syler Clark toed the rubber for Riverside keeping the Pirates close giving up 4 hits and 4 runs.

Landon Purtee doubled driving in the Pirate’s lone run.

Riverside drops to 6-6 overall and 2-6 in league play.

Miami East raises their record to 14-1 and 8-1 in league play.

 

The Lakers fell in a heartbreaker to the Tecumseh Arrows Friday night 6-5.

The game was tied at the top of the seventh when Phillip Francis grounded out, scoring one run.

Madden Lillard went 1 for 4 at the plate as the left-handed hitter led the team with two runs batted in.

Maddux Hall, Indian Lake’s number-nine hitter, led the team with three hits in three at-bats.

The Lakers will travel to Shawnee for their next game on Monday.

 

The Tigers beat Catholic Central 16-2 on Friday night.

Peyton Hull went the distance for the Tigers to earn the win pitching 6 innings and striking out 6.

The Tigers are 13-3 on the season and travel to Miami East Saturday at 10 AM.
