Riverside, West Liberty-Salem Secure Wins in High School Golf Matches

In high school golf action Tuesday night, Riverside’s boys’ team faced a nail-biting finish against Milton Union. Both teams ended with a total score of 199 after their top four scores were combined, but Milton Union edged out Riverside by winning the fifth-score tiebreaker. Riverside’s Jaxon Woods shot a standout one-over-par 37 to claim match medalist honors. Hayden McCully posted a 48, with Daniel Esh and Syler Clark both finishing at 57.

On the girls’ side, Riverside narrowly defeated Milton-Union at Cherokee Hills with a team score of 219, just two strokes ahead of Milton-Union’s 217. Riverside’s Reaghan McDaniel was the match medalist with a score of 37. Other notable performances included Zoie Armbruster with a 57, Kenna Johnson at 60, Kirstyn Carpenter with a 65, Lei Hurley at 68, and Grace Owen scoring 79. The match highlighted impressive skill and competitiveness from both teams.

In other action, the West Liberty-Salem (WL-S) girls’ golf team celebrated Senior Night with a close victory over Triad, finishing 221 to 225. Kennedy Wallace led the Tigers with a 51, followed by Olivia Reichardt with a 52, Geneva Estep at 58, and Taylor Cook with a 60. This match was the final home event of the season for the Lady Tigers, who improved their record to 4-3.

Meanwhile, the WL-S boys’ team secured a win against Triad at Woodland with a score of 201-196. Despite some challenges, Carter Henderson achieved his lowest score of the season. The Tigers, now 6-5, will face Burg and Northeastern in a Tri-Match at Urbana Country Club tomorrow.
