Several area wrestling teams competed in the sectional tournament over the weekend.
Division II
Graham hosted one of the three sectional tournaments and won with 341.5 team points Saturday.
The Falcons saw all 14 of their wrestlers advance to the DII District tournament at Wilmington High School this Friday and Saturday.
11 Falcons won a sectional title: Jake Landis, Kaleb Morris, Colt Ryan, Brogan Tucker, Hayden Hughes, Bryce Kohler, Eli Jacks, Luke James, Gunner Cramblett, Joey Mockbee, and Chett Mannier.
Benjamin Logan placed 3rd as a team at the Graham Sectional.
6 Raiders qualified for the district tournament: Kendall Plikerd (150) – 2nd, Carter Buck (113), Evan Carpenter (126), Matthew Beikman (165) – 3rd, and Mason Daum (106) and Kameron Larson (157) – 4th.
Benjamin Logan also had two other sectional placers: Daniel Koehler (175) and Owen Jordan (190) both placed 6th.
Bellefontaine came in 8th out of 12 teams with 89.5 points.
The Chiefs had three wrestlers qualify for districts and placed 8 of their 11 wrestlers in the top six.
Qualifying were Jared Young (106), Zane Tevis (138), and Parker Knox (175) who all took 3rd.
Other sectional placers for Bellefontaine include Jeffery Smith (113), Wyatt Latimer (126), Wes Morris (132), Zavier May (144), and Mason Cook (150) who all finished in 6th.
Kaden Hobart (120) & Charlie Bible (285) won some matches for the Chiefs, while Justin Robinson (215) also competed.
“We’re very proud of Jared, Zane, and Parker,” said BHS head coach Aaron LaBatt. “They’ve all been working very hard and put in extra time during the off-season. This is something they’ve been working towards for a long time. As a team, we had a much better performance than last week. We had a great week of practice and it showed. We had a few matches that didn’t go our way but we had a few surprises too. It was a good finish to the regular season.”
Urbana took 12th at the Graham sectional.
The Hillclimbers had two wrestlers qualify for the district tournament, Layne Settle and Max Tucker.

Division III
West Liberty-Salem finished 8th at the Covington wrestling sectional with 78 points.
The Tigers had three district qualifiers in Jacob Griffith, Matthew Christison, and Wylie Harbour.

Indian Lake placed 3rd as a team at the Versailles sectional.
Adrian Crumley, Czar Dickson, Owen Pummel, and Dylan Valerio all earned the runner-up spot and will move on. Zander Davis took third and Ke’Shawn Blackwell placed fourth. Gavin Henry finished fifth and is an alternate for the Lakers.
Triad also hit the mat at the Versailles sectional.
The Cardinals took 12th as a team.
Qualifying for Triad was Awesom Mitchell who placed 2nd at 175.

In the Central District sectional at Ridgedale, Mechanicsburg took 2nd with 172 points.
8 Indians qualified for the district tournament: Nolan Fraley, Parker Cook, Ronnie Thomas, Zane Hitchcock, Wade Naff, Braedon Brown, Braedon Buxton, and Connor Shultz.
