The Riverside Middle School boys track and field team finished sixth out of 13 teams at a meet at Triad, with several athletes turning in strong performances and personal bests across the meet.
Landen Allen led the way on the track, placing second in the 100-meter dash in 12.45 and fourth in the 110-meter hurdles in 18.84, both personal records, while Aarick Savage added a seventh-place finish in the 110 hurdles in 19.99, also a PR. Brayden Harshbarger took second in the 100-meter dash in 13.10 and added a fourth-place finish in the high jump at 4 feet, 8 inches.
In relay action, the 4×100-meter team of Charlie Varian, Aarick Savage, MJ Castallante, and Landen Allen placed second with a time of 53.32. Jacob Wren contributed with an eighth-place finish in the 200-meter hurdles in 33.37.
In the field events, Brayden Harshbarger claimed first place in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 8¼ inches, a personal record, while Charlie Varian finished second at 15 feet, 8¼ inches. MJ Castallante placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 94 feet, 10 inches, and added a sixth-place finish in the shot put at 30 feet, 10½ inches.
Additional personal records for the boys included Brandon Wynegar (1:08.78) and Jake Foreman (1:15.11) in the 400 meters, Landon Olinger (27.18) and Jacob Wren (29.47) in the 200 meters, and Korbin Osborne with a throw of 22 feet, 5¾ inches in the shot put.
For the girls, Izzy Hudson led the top finishers with a fifth-place result in the 100-meter dash in 14.46, a personal record. Other personal bests came from Erica Blair, who ran 16.35 in the 100 meters, and Gracie Popp, who recorded a throw of 19 feet, 3½ inches in the shot put.
