More local girls’ basketball teams were back in action Thursday, February 19, competing in OHSAA district quarterfinal matchups. The Urbana Hillclimbers advanced with a decisive victory, while the Bellefontaine Chieftains saw their season come to an end.
Urbana 57, Madison 21
Troy High School — February 19, 2026
The No. 4 seed Urbana Hillclimbers defeated No. 14 Madison 57–21 in Division IV Southwest 1 district quarterfinal play.
Urbana controlled the game from the opening tip, building a 23–12 lead by halftime and continuing to extend its advantage in the second half. The Hillclimbers maintained steady offensive production while limiting Madison’s scoring opportunities with consistent defensive pressure.
Alex Dixon led Urbana with 21 points. With the outcome secured, Urbana was able to give younger players valuable postseason minutes down the stretch.
Urbana advances to face Bethel on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Tippecanoe 57, Bellefontaine 12
Springfield High School — February 19, 2026
In Division III Southwest 1 district quarterfinal action, the No. 15 seed Bellefontaine Chieftains fell to No. 4 Tippecanoe 57–12.
Tippecanoe established control early and maintained its lead throughout the contest. The loss concludes Bellefontaine’s 2025–26 season.
