Hillclimbers upend Chieftains in rivalry game; more Tuesday basketball finals

A full slate of high school basketball filled Tuesday night across the area, with boys matchups leading the way and several strong individual performances. Here’s a look at how local teams fared on the court.

Bellefontaine vs. Urbana (Boys)

The Bellefontaine Chiefs dropped a CBC matchup to Urbana Tuesday night, 64–48.
The loss moves Bellefontaine to 2–2 on the season, while Urbana remains unbeaten at 3–0.

Urbana’s Kadin Underwood led all scorers with 25 points.

Bellefontaine Scoring:

  • Blake Loomis – 8

JV Game: Urbana defeated Bellefontaine 44–30. Sutton Daring led the Chiefs with 15 points.

Freshman Game: Bellefontaine beat Urbana 48–36. Tyrin Johnson scored 16 and Zavion Perez added 10.

The Chiefs travel to Benjamin Logan next Tuesday, while the Hillclimbers travel to West Carrollton on Saturday.

West Liberty-Salem vs. Greenon (Boys)

West Liberty-Salem improved to 1–1 overall and 1–1 in the OHC with a strong 50–29 road win over Greenon.

Riverside vs. Jackson Center (Girls)

The Riverside Lady Pirates fell to Jackson Center 52–37 on Tuesday night.

Quarter Scores:

  • 2Q: 19–37 JC

  • 3Q: 32–41 JC

Riverside was led by Maddy Lemly with 16 points, while Emilee Robinson added 9.

The Lady Pirates drop to 1–4 on the season and host Troy Christian on Thursday.

Riverside vs. Bethel (Boys)

Riverside turned in a strong night on their home court, sweeping both the JV and varsity matchups against Bethel.

Varsity Game: The Pirates rolled to a 64–47 victory. Brody Orsborne and Syler Clark each scored 12, while Blaine Shoe added 11.

JV Game: Riverside edged Bethel 32–30, led by David Gross with 15 points.
