Indian Lake 8, Wapakoneta 7

Indian Lake came out swinging early and leaned on late pitching to hold off Wapakoneta in an 8-7 thriller.

The Lady Lakers wasted no time in the first inning, scoring five runs in a whirlwind start. MacKenzie Miller and Izzi Mackesy set the table before Brylee Buyer cleared the bases with a two-RBI double. Annie Rapp and Kiylee Haude added more production, and aggressive baserunning—including a steal of home—helped build a 5-0 lead.

Wapakoneta answered right back with four runs of its own in the bottom half, but Indian Lake kept the pressure on in the second. More traffic on the bases led to three additional runs, with RBI groundouts from Rapp and Haude helping stretch the lead to 8-4.

The Redskins chipped away again in the third, using a triple, a single, and an error to pull within one at 8-7. From there, the game turned into a defensive battle.

Kyler Carruthers slammed the door late, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings and working around a leadoff single in the seventh to secure the win. Miller and Mackesy each had two hits, while Buyer and Haude drove in two runs apiece.

Indian Lake moves to 3-4 and will travel to Urbana Friday.

Graham 16, Catholic Central 3 (5 innings)

Graham shook off an early deficit and never looked back, rolling past Catholic Central 16-3 in run-rule fashion.

The Irish struck first with a two-run double in the opening frame, but the Lady Falcons answered immediately. Mariah Sizemore set the tone with a leadoff single, and after two walks loaded the bases, Lily Swank came through with a clutch two-out, two-RBI single to tie the game.

From there, it was all Graham. Abby Chamberlain settled in in the circle, allowing just one more run while striking out seven. Offensively, the Falcons kept piling on—Malynn Bacher delivered a two-RBI single in the second, and Sophia Fraley added another RBI knock.

The third inning blew things wide open, as Graham erupted for eight runs behind a flurry of hits, walks, and defensive miscues to take a commanding 13-3 lead. They tacked on three more in the fourth, highlighted by RBI hits from Chamberlain and Bacher, before closing things out in the fifth.

Elizabeth Friis led the way with a perfect 3-for-3 day and three RBIs, while Bacher and Swank each drove in four.

Graham improves to 4-5 and will face Jonathan Alder next.

Northwestern 3, Bellefontaine 2 (8 innings)

Bellefontaine came up just short in a tightly contested extra-inning battle, falling 3-2 to Northwestern.

Both pitchers were locked in early, with neither side able to break through until the third, when Northwestern took advantage of a passed ball to grab a 1-0 lead. The Lady Chieftains answered right away, as Addison Wical singled and Joy Fogan blasted a two-run homer to put Bellefontaine in front.

Fogan continued to deal in the circle, but Northwestern evened things up in the fifth with a solo shot. From there, both defenses held firm, sending the game to extras.

In the eighth, the Warriors manufactured the go-ahead run with a walk, a stolen base, and a pair of productive outs. Bellefontaine threatened in the bottom half, loading the bases with one out, but a lineout turned into a game-ending double play to seal it.

Fogan struck out seven in the complete-game effort and accounted for both runs with her homer. Brilee Joseph added two hits.

The Chiefs fall to 3-6 and will prepare for Kenton Ridge on Monday.

Madison Plains 9, West Liberty-Salem 5

West Liberty-Salem couldn’t recover from an early deficit, falling 9-5 to Madison Plains in a momentum-filled contest.

The Golden Eagles struck first, capitalizing on defensive miscues to score one in the first and three more in the second, aided by passed balls and errors to jump ahead 4-0.

The Lady Tigers responded in the middle innings. Ashlyn Yeater sparked the offense with an RBI double in the third, and in the fourth, Emily King and Kiersten Stoll delivered back-to-back clutch hits to bring WL-S within one. Stoll later scored on a passed ball to tie the game at four.

Both teams traded runs in the fifth, with WL-S getting an RBI single from Britton Carter, but Madison Plains seized control in the sixth. A triple set the tone, and a two-run homer capped the rally as the Golden Eagles pulled away.

WL-S couldn’t mount a response late, going down in order to end the game. Six Tigers recorded hits, with four players driving in runs.

The loss drops West Liberty-Salem to 4-5 as they prepare for Northwestern Saturday.

London 10, Benjamin Logan 4

A late-inning collapse flipped the script, as London stormed back with a massive seventh to defeat Benjamin Logan 10-4.

Both sides were locked in early, with pitching and defense controlling the tempo through the first four innings. Benjamin Logan finally broke through in the fifth, as Brielle Kline delivered a clutch two-out triple to tie the game before Kylie Harner followed with an RBI single to give the Lady Raiders a 2-1 lead.

The momentum continued in the sixth when Tanna Jacobs launched a two-run homer to center, pushing the advantage to 4-1 and putting Benjamin Logan in control heading into the final frame.

But the seventh inning unraveled quickly. London capitalized on defensive miscues and timely hitting, stringing together seven hits—including four doubles—and taking advantage of three errors. A two-RBI single started the rally, a wild pitch tied the game, and a fielder’s choice paired with another error gave the Red Raiders the lead before they piled on to reach 10 runs.

Benjamin Logan couldn’t recover, as London shut things down to complete the comeback. Adilynne Gregg led the Lady Raiders at the plate, going 2-for-3, while Jacobs’ homer accounted for two RBIs.

Benjamin Logan falls to 3-4 and will face Kenton Ridge next.

Covington 14, Riverside 3 (5 innings)

Covington came out swinging and never let up, handing Riverside a 14-3 run-rule loss.

The Lady Buccs set the tone early with a first-inning RBI single before exploding for five runs in the second, highlighted by a grand slam that quickly made it 6-0. Riverside answered in the bottom half with a two-out, two-RBI single from Keira Manahan to cut into the deficit.

However, Covington had an answer every time. A leadoff homer in the third stretched the lead, and a seven-run fourth inning—fueled by timely hitting and Pirate errors—put the game out of reach.

Riverside managed one more run in the fifth on an error, but the run-rule came into effect shortly after. Six different Pirates recorded hits, with Manahan driving in two runs.

Riverside drops to 6-5 and will look to bounce back against Lehman Catholic.

Buckeye Valley 18, Mechanicsburg 8 (5 innings)

Mechanicsburg showed early life, but Buckeye Valley’s big innings proved too much in an 18-8 run-rule defeat.

The Lady Indians struck first, with Avery McDowell manufacturing a run in the opening inning before adding another in the second with an RBI double. But Buckeye Valley answered with a five-run second to take control.

Mechanicsburg kept battling, getting an RBI single from Lexi Poland in the third and later a two-run homer from McDowell to stay within striking distance. But the Barons broke things wide open in the fourth, erupting for nine runs with a mix of extra-base hits and defensive miscues.

The Lady Indians managed to extend the game briefly with a two-run double from Bella Batkiewicz and a hit from Keelyn McGhee, but Buckeye Valley responded immediately with a two-RBI double to trigger the run rule.

McDowell led the way with a big day, going 2-for-3 with a homer, three RBIs, and three runs scored, while McGhee added three hits.

Mechanicsburg falls to 0-7 and will look for its first win against Greenon Friday.
