Indian Lake advances to Regional Final

The Indian Lake Lakers have advanced to the Regional Final for the second straight season with a 31-14 win over the Mariemont Warriors.

Indian Lake scored on their opening possession with a Brady Golliday to Colin Bendler 40-yard strike.

The Lakers extended their lead with a Noah Shirk 2-yard TD run for a 14-0 lead with 1:21 left in the first quarter.

Mariemont got on the board with 8:39 to go in the first half to cut the lead to 14-7.

Indian Lake struck back with a Brady Golliday 14-yard touchdown for a 21-7 lead.

The Warriors scored again before halftime making the score 21-14 Lakers at the break.

Mariemont received the ball to start the third quarter. One minute into the action, Indian Lake’s Aaron Rapp crushed the Warriors QB while he was making a pitch on the option play. The ball bounced off the running back’s hands and was picked up by Indian Lake’s Gavin Henry who sprinted 46 yards for a touchdown. Not only did Indian Lake go up 28-14, but the play also knocked the Warriors starting QB out of the game.

Indian Lake would shutout Mariemont the rest of the game and celebrate another playoff victory.

The Lakers offense put up 349 yards. Brady Golliday was 13-20 for 149 yards and a touchdown while he rushed for 109 yards and another score.

Noah Shirk had 72 yards rushing and 52 yards receiving.  Gavin Henry added an interception on defense to his fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Indian Lake will now face the North Union Wildcats in the Regional Final Friday 11/21.

The game will be played at a neutral site to be announced by the OHSAA on Sunday afternoon.

North Union scored a touchdown with just over 90-seconds remaining to beat Carlisle 40-36.

The Lakers beat the Wildcats in Week 6 this season 17-14.
