Indian Lake’s track and field team competed at the Division 3 Indoor State Championships this weekend.
Ava Faler earned 4th place finish in the triple jump, setting a new personal record of 32 feet, 7.5 inches.
This is the highest finish for a female athlete from Indian Lake in the past seven years, as the school has had athletes qualify for the indoor state meet every year during that time.
Other athletes from Indian Lake, including Quest Clay, Kade Richardson, and Haley Metzger, competed but did not advance to the finals.
Fans can watch Indian Lake’s athletes at home on April 14 for their meet and May 8 for the Laker Invite.
On the other hand, the Lady Chiefs from Bellefontaine dominated the Division 2 Indoor State Track and Field Meet.
Ava Reeves had a fantastic performance, winning the state title in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.77 seconds.
She also finished second in both the long jump (17 feet, 10.25 inches) and the 200-meter (25.77 seconds).
Kylie Adams contributed with a 4th place finish in the triple jump (35 feet, 6 inches) and an 8th place in the long jump (16 feet, 11 inches).
Callie Shumaker finished 3rd in the 60-meter hurdles (9.30 seconds), and Kelsie Snapp took 5th in the shot put with a throw of 38 feet, 8.25 inches.
Bellefontaine’s overall team effort helped them take 1st place in the team standings with 42 points, edging out Chaminade Julienne (41 points) and Granville (37 points). Other top teams included Mercy McCauley, Hathaway Brown, and Avon Lake.
Coach Ben Davis was thrilled with the team’s performance, saying, “Placing in every event we competed in was a tremendous effort. It came down to the last event of the evening, and this sets the tone for a great outdoor season.”
