Indian Lake, Benjamin Logan notch wins on Senior Night, WL-S wins OHC; Thursday volleyball scores and stats

The Indian Lake volleyball team closed out Central Buckeye Conference play in style, sweeping Graham on Senior Night Thursday evening.

Six seniors were honored with gifts from teammates and roaring applause from parents and spectators.

The Lady Lakers varsity team earned the win in three straight sets: 25-13, 25-16, 25-14. They dominated their way to their 17th win of the season and will prepare for tournament play.

Makenna Hurley led the way with 8 kills, 2 blocks, 4 digs, and an ace. Addison Beck followed with 2 kills, 2 assists, 14 digs, and an ace, while Annie Rapp tallied 2 kills, a block, 15 digs, 4 aces, and 11 assists. Riley Ross chipped in 1 kill, 4 assists, 15 digs, and an ace. Cambrie Warnecke added 6 kills, an ace, and a dig, and Lilly Wickline rounded out the senior effort with 6 kills, 7 digs, and an ace.

Graham leaves the regular season without a win, but enters tournament play with some good takeaways, as they are starting to find their stride.

The JV Lakers also came out on top, winning in two sets: 25-12, 25-13.

It was Senior Night at Benjamin Logan for the Lady Raiders volleyball program. The five seniors — Caroline Spriggs, Winnie Bodin, Marlee Butcher, Tanna Jacobs, and Annika Chappell — were celebrated with memory boards, a beautifully decorated gym, and even performed a special rendition of the National Anthem together before the match.

The volleyball action itself was a thriller, as Benjamin Logan battled through five intense sets to earn a 3-2 victory. The set scores were 25-18, 24-26, 23-25, 25-9, 15-9, as the Lady Raiders closed out their regular season in dramatic fashion.

The West Liberty-Salem Tigers wrapped up their regular season on the road at West Jefferson, earning a sweep: 25-19, 25-18, 25-18. The win secured a 19-3 overall record and a 15-1 mark in the Ohio Heritage Conference, making the Tigers OHC North Champions.

  • Naomi Cole led the way with 12 kills, 8 digs, 2 aces, and a block.
  • Ava Poppe added 10 kills, 11 digs, and 2 aces.
  • Lyndee Harrison tallied 2 kills, 3 aces, 16 assists, and a block.
  • Sophia Landon recorded 13 assists, a kill, and 6 digs.
  • Lilli Heminger contributed 8 kills, an ace, and a block, while Reese Winters had 5 kills and 2 blocks.
  • Reagan Winters anchored the defense with 12 digs and went 19 of 20 on serve receive.
  • Kiersten Stoll added 2 kills and 5 digs, and Kenna Wright finished with 4 digs.

In JV action, West Liberty-Salem defeated West Jefferson in three sets, 25-16, 18-25, 25-19.

  • Emma Schmelzer led with 11 assists, 5 kills, and 8 digs.
  • Emma Liggett added 8 aces, 9 digs, and 5 kills, going 18 for 19 from the service line.
  • Kendall Carroll served 7 aces and added 3 kills, while Olive Matthews recorded 10 assists and 2 kills.
  • Addie Hutton chipped in 4 kills, Loretta Moxley had 4 aces and 4 kills.
  • Evie Decker, Kylee Bell, and Sydnee Conley all contributed solid defense.

Riverside hit the road to face Milton-Union.

In varsity action, Riverside fell in three sets: 25-14, 25-17, 25-17.

  • Emilee Robinson led the defense with 10 digs.
  • Valerie Knight added 4 kills for the Pirates.

The JV Pirates picked up a victory in two sets: 25-20, 25-21.

  • Kenzie Stotler had 4 aces and 8 digs.
  • Ellie Zwiebel recorded 6 digs and 7 assists.
  • Addison Shoe finished with 6 kills.
