Indian Lake and Purcell Marian needed overtime to decide the District Final Friday night at Trotwood-Madison.
In the extra period, time was running out when Indian Lake stole the ball and Avery Pequignot charged down the floor and went in the paint. His shot was contested and came off the rim, but Tyler Tidwell was there for the putback and gave Indian Lake the lead 52-51 with just under 10 seconds left. Purcell Marian’s Chris Washington got the inbound and rushed down the floor where he sank a running 16-foot shot with just over 3 seconds on the clock. After a Lakers timeout, Brodey Reisinger passed to Avery Pequignot who shot a contested 21-footer that fell short and ended the Indian Lake season 53-52.
Tyler Tidwell was the leading scorer for Indian Lake, scoring 19 points. Brodey Reisinger had 18 and Avery Pequignot added 11.
Purcell Marian’s Chris Washington had a game-high 23 (17 in the second half).
Indian Lake only took two free throws in the game while Purcell Marian went 2-7 from the line.
