Indian Lake Schools honored athletic excellence Friday night during the annual Athletic Hall of Honor Ceremony, held between games. The Hall of Honor recognizes athletes who achieved state-level recognition through the Ohio High School Athletic Association.

Five members of the Class of 2025 were inducted and had their photos placed on the Hall of Honor wall: Quest Clay, Ava Faler, Madden Lillard, Owen Pummel, and Halle Roby.

Also recognized was the 1979 Indian Lake Boys Cross Country team, the first team in school history to qualify for the OHSAA State Championships. That squad finished fifth at state, the highest placement in program history, and also claimed conference and regional championships.

Team members later participated in a special reception hosted by the Indian Lake Cross Country program. Members included John Emrick, Carson Mummey, Troy Oakley, Tim Morton, Dan Alspaugh, Gerry Lehmkuhle, Mike Dickerson, Pat Plikerd, Steve Chivington, Ben Davis, Joe Brenner, Denise Pickering, Bryan Gonterman, Mark Freeman, John Dickerson, Bill Coyer, Alan Elliot, Mark Smith, Steve Smith, Scott Owens, Bill Bodi, Mike Arthur, Paul Cummins, and Coach Jeff Kerns.

Class of 2025 Inductees

Quest Clay was a two-sport standout in football and track and field. He placed 10th at the OHSAA State Track and Field Championships in the long jump and qualified for the Indoor State Championships in the triple jump. After a standout senior football season, Clay earned First Team All-Ohio honors and was named CBC Offensive Player of the Year. He now plays football at Ashland University, where he studies business.

Ava Faler advanced to the OHSAA State Track and Field Championships in the high jump and earned Academic All-Ohio honors. She holds the school record in the triple jump and placed fourth at the Division III Indoor State Championships earlier this year. Faler also competed in basketball and cheer and is now studying Flight Science at Western Michigan University.

Madden Lillard led Indian Lake to its first Elite Eight appearance as a senior quarterback and earned Honorable Mention All-Ohio honors. A three-sport athlete, he was also named CBC Mad River Division Player of the Year and Division IV Southwest District Baseball Player of the Year. Lillard currently plays baseball at Wright State–Lake Campus.

Owen Pummel, a four-time OHSAA state qualifier, finished his career as a state runner-up and holds the school record with 156 wrestling wins. Now competing collegiately at Northern Michigan University, Pummel is studying Environmental Science and wrestling in Greco-Roman competition.

Halle Roby helped lead Lady Lakers softball to CBC titles, a district championship, a regional championship, and a state runner-up finish, earning Honorable Mention All-Ohio recognition. She was also a multi-year First Team All-CBC selection and a volleyball record-holder. Roby is currently a student-athlete at Ball State University, serving as the Cardinals’ bullpen catcher.

Congratulations to all of the inductees and honorees.
