Indian Lake Inducts Several Into Hall of Fame

After a historic year in Indian Lake Athletics, several individuals and two teams were inducted into the 2023 ILHS Athletic Hall of Honor Friday night in between games.

In order to be eligible for the ILHS Athletic Hall of Honor, an athlete must have excelled to the level of state recognition by the Ohio High School Athletic Association during their high school years.

Each one was presented with a photo highlighting the state-level accomplishments.

Then the honorees placed the picture in the Hall of Honor after the ceremony.

Stephanie Altstaetter earned Third Team All Ohio in Girls Basketball.

Steph was a strong player for the Lakers, earning First Team All CBC honors for three years in a row.

She also earned district distinction.

Altstaetter was also a key member of the ILHS Volleyball team, earning Player of the Year honors in 2022.

In addition, Steph was a valuable member of the ILHS Girls Track Team, earning a special mention for shot put.

She is currently a member of the Wilmington University Quakers Women’s Basketball Team. Stephanie is the daughter of Phil and Brandi Altstaetter.

 

Isaac Morrison was selected as an Honorable Mention All-Ohio Defensive Back for football.

He helped lead the Lakers for four seasons on defense and as a receiver on offense.

As a senior, Morrison was also named 1st Team CBC and First Team All-Southwest District.

In addition to football, Isaac was the only senior on the CBC Champion Boys Basketball team in 2023.

He was also a valuable sprinter on the ILHS Boys Track Team earning first team all CBC as a member of 1600 meter relay.

He is currently a student at Ohio Northern University.

Isaac is the son of Steve Morrison and Amy Book.

 

Elayna Richardson made the Athletic Hall of Honor twice.

First, she placed 8th in the 200-meter dash in the 2023 Ohio Indoor Track Meet.

Later in the spring, Richardson qualified for the Ohio Track and Field Meet State Meet in the 400-meter dash.

Elayna was also a member of several record-setting Indian Lake relay sprint teams and a member of the 2022 CBC Champion Girls Cross Country team.

Richardson was named Athlete of the Year during the 2023 CBC Track and Field Meet, earned first-team CBC track multiple times and qualified for regional track meet multiple times.

She is currently working at Sweet Aromas in Bellefontaine and will start school this winter to become an esthetician.

Elayna is the daughter of Nick and Amy Richardson.

 

Jalan Martin also earned state recognition two times.

In 2019, Martin bowled to 9th place in the State Bowling Meet as an individual.

This year, Martin earned an Honorable Mention spot on the All-Ohio Bowling Team after helping lead her team to a 6th place finish in the State Bowling Tournament.

As a Laker, Jalan was selected First Team CBC Bowling her junior year and earned Second Team CBC her sophomore and senior years.

Jalan also earned a spot on the All-District Bowling Team as a senior.

She was also a valuable member of the ILHS Girls Track team running on several successful relays.

She is currently a student at the Ohio State Beauty Academy in Lima.

Jalan is the daughter of Jodi and Lana Martin.

 

The 2022-23 Indian Lake Lady Lakers Bowling Team had a historic season.

They caught fire in February when they won the CBC Tournament in the Mad River Division.

They went on to place second in the District, punching their first-ever ticket to the State Tournament as a team.

They rolled great games and ended up in 6th place overall.

Members of the team are Jaelyn Hughes, Jalan Martin, Kayleigh Zedlitz, Andi Miller, Samantha Johnson, and Addison Castle. Their coach is Gina Rucker.


The final nod of the night went to the 2023 State Runner-Up Lady Laker Softball Team.

These ladies mowed through the CBC last year, going undefeated in the Mad River Division.

They earned a sectional title, district trophy, and first-ever regional championship.

They defeated a tough Johnstown team in the Final Four game to earn the right to play in the program’s first-ever State Championship.

The ladies earned the Runner-Up spot and are looking forward to another successful season in 2024.

Members of the team are Annie Rapp, Kennedy Schwaderer, Kenzie Dixon, Abigail Elliott, Adeline Robinson, Halle Roby, Addison Stinemetz, Madison Brentlinger, Porscha Davis, Haylee Edwards, Katie Roby, Geona Spires, Carmyn Weiner, Kayleigh Zedlitz, Hannah Marlow, Reece Martin and Paige Mefford.

Their coaches are: Paula Newland, Clint Zedeker, Jason Schwaderer, Kaylee Shelton, and Head Coach John Stahl.
