Indian Lake opens T&F season in tri-match action

Indian Lake officially kicked off its outdoor track and field season Monday night, hosting Upper Scioto Valley and Ada in a tri-meet that saw the Laker boys take first place with 91 points. Ada finished second with 46, while USV had 12. On the girls side, Ada claimed the team title with 70 points, followed closely by Indian Lake with 64 and USV with 11.

It was a strong early-season performance for the Lakers, highlighted by a mix of experienced leaders and emerging talent, setting a positive tone for the rest of the spring.

For the boys, Indian Lake dominated across multiple events. Christopher Timms led the field events with wins in both the shot put and discus, while Blake Sell claimed the high jump title and Brodey Reisinger won the long jump. On the track, Silas Holbrook sprinted to victories in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes, and Gavin Henry swept the hurdles, winning the 110 and 300 events. Cason Lacher added a distance win in the 1600 meters.

The Lakers also showcased depth in relays, winning all four events. The 4×100 team of Noah Shirk, Gavin Henry, Brodey Reisinger, and Holbrook, the 4×200 squad of J. Shirk, Henderson, Richardson, and Whitsett, the 4×400 team of Stinebaugh, Clary, Richardson, and Holbrook, and the 4×800 group of Stinebaugh, Clary, Lacher, and Faler all took first place.

Additional strong finishes included second-place efforts from Will Faler (pole vault, 800), Wyatt Whitsett (shot put), Aidan Stinebaugh (long jump, 400), Titus Kelly (3200), and Noah Shirk (110 and 300 hurdles). Third-place finishes came from Whitsett in the 100 and Reisinger in the 200.

On the girls side, the Lakers turned in several standout performances despite finishing just behind Ada in the team standings. Addison Beck led the way with an impressive triple win in the long jump, 100, and 200-meter dashes, while Terra Beltz captured the shot put title and Kayleigh Taylor won the pole vault. Laura Metzger added a distance victory in the 3200 meters, and the 4×800 relay team of Overmyer, Newkirk, Brielmaier, and Klofta also earned a first-place finish.

Indian Lake added multiple runner-up finishes, including Beltz in discus, Beck in high jump, Karsyn Newkirk in the 800, Taylor in the 1600, and Haley Metzger in the 3200. All three sprint relays (4×100, 4×200, and 4×400) also placed second, showing strong team depth.

Third-place finishes came from Piper Warnecke (200), Mary Archer (400), Allison Overmyer (800), Hailey Prater (300 hurdles), and Diem Martin (long jump).

Indian Lake will look to build on the strong start when the Lakers compete at the Piqua Invitational on Friday.
