Several area boys golf teams were in action Monday as the regular season continues to wind down and teams prepare for the postseason. Indian Lake, Benjamin Logan, Riverside, Urbana, and other area programs competed across the region.
Indian Lake 178, Benjamin Logan 230
The Indian Lake Lakers picked up a win Monday night, defeating Benjamin Logan 178-230.
Jaxon Snipes led the Lakers and earned match medalist honors with a 41. Crew McPherson followed with a 43, while Mason Berg and Jesse Carder each carded a 47 to complete the official team score.
Grant Wickline also competed for Indian Lake with a 48, while Reid Roberts finished with a 52.
The Lakers head into Tuesday morning’s CBC meet with a 6-4 league record and an 8-8 overall record.
For Benjamin Logan, Drake Newland led the Raiders with a 51. Keegan Lacher followed with a 56, while Joel Johnson and Ashe Moorhouse finished with 61 and 62, respectively. Colson Knight also shot a 62, with AJ Bergman finishing with a 64.
The Benjamin Logan junior varsity team also competed Monday. Zeke McVety, Hayden Kuhlke and Charlie Stimmel each shot a 47, while Brody Schulz carded a 51. Eli Cummins finished with a 54 and Bennett Shaner shot a 58.
Covington 178, Riverside 194
The Riverside boys golf team hosted Covington Monday night and fell 178-194.
Despite the loss, the Pirates put together their best round of the season and continue to show improvement heading into the postseason.
Brody Orsborne led Riverside with a 43, followed by Zane Armbruster with a 47 and Syler Clark with a 48. Karston Duckro finished with a 56, while Jaycen Roby carded a 59.
Covington’s Caiden Hollingsworth was the match medalist with a 42.
Marysville 171, Mechanicsburg 173
Marysville edged Mechanicsburg 171-173 Monday at Urbana Country Club.
Mason Bandy and Ryder Buxton led the way for their respective teams, with both golfers shooting 42. Elliott Moore added a 44 for Marysville, while MJ Blose shot a 45 and Max Popovich finished with a 46. Bodee Delong rounded out the Marysville lineup with a 54.
Burg was led by Buxton’s 42, followed by Drew Lawhorn with a 51, Doug Violet with a 55, Jaxson Taylor with a 55, Liam O’Laughlin with a 57 and Caden Canfield with a 58.
The Marysville JV team also defeated Burg JV, 188-210. Hank Huffman led Marysville JV with a 49, followed by Drew Lawhorn with a 51, Doug Violet with a 55, Jaxson Taylor with a 55, Liam O’Laughlin with a 57 and Caden Canfield with a 58.
London 158, Urbana 213
London earned a 158-213 victory over Urbana Monday at London Country Club.
Bryson Payne, Oliver Dingledine and Jacob Porter led London, with all three golfers shooting a 39. Max Ober added a 41, while Jack Peters finished with a 42 and Maddox Sexton shot a 46.
Brant Markin led Urbana with a 49. Keegan Reisinger followed with a 53, while Lane Varney shot a 55 and Nolan Smith finished with a 56. Kelton McClain rounded out the Urbana scoring with a 57.
Shawnee 187, Graham 202
Shawnee defeated Graham 187-202 Monday at Windy Knoll.
Camren Aker led Shawnee with a 42, earning match medalist honors. Braden Williams followed with a 45, while Zane Peterson shot a 49 and Easton Krouse finished with a 51.
Kaison Shaw and Nash Williams each carded a 52.
Graham was led by Jonas Mannier with a 43. Daniel Bonham added a 49, while Jackie Thomas shot a 53, Mason Law finished with a 57, Layne Barger had a 58 and Tucker Fonton carded a 69.
