Indian Lake sweeps Benjamin Logan; Tuesday volleyball roundup

The Indian Lake volleyball team traveled to face off with league rival Benjamin Logan on Tuesday night. The Lakers swept up the night 25-20, 25-22, 25-20, as the series streak of the road team claiming victory extends to three games.

Early errors mounted for Benjamin Logan, as Indian Lake took control of set one early and kept their distance, despite some great pushes from the Lady Raiders.

The fight continued into a back-and-forth second set that saw the script flip, as the errors were piling up for the Lakers and Benjamin Logan was now the team taking advantage. Yet, the Lady Lakers flipped a switch late in the set to retake control and steal a set away to go up two sets to none.

In set three, another hard-fought effort on both sides found the set level at 20 in a must-win situation for the Lady Raiders. The Laker serving was on point, and Alivia Kinney recorded two aces during a five-point run, including a phenomenal rally to end the game.

  • Courtney Altstaetter had 9 kills, only 1 hitting error and 2 blocks
  • Cami Bailey had 11 kills, 2 blocks and 10 digs
  • Mackenzie Miller had 10 kills, 1 block, 5 digs and was 18/18 serving with one ace.
  • Alivia Kinney had 1 kill, 2 blocks and 2 aces
  • Annie Rapp had 2 kills, 7 digs and was 17/17 serving
  • Riley Ross had 12 digs and was 9/9 serving with 1 ace
  • Addyson Roby had 28 assists, 4 kills and 2 aces

The varsity team improves to 9-1 and will host Northwestern on Thursday.

The Chieftain volleyball program had a stellar showing on the road Tuesday night, sweeping Tecumseh across all levels in a strong team effort.

The Varsity squad had a 3-set sweep, posting scores of 25-17, 25-11, and 25-14.

  • Jillian Ullom anchored the defense with 17 digs, keeping Tecumseh’s offense in check.
  • Presley Vigansky contributed across the board with 2 blocks, 5 digs, 2 aces, and 2 kills.
  • Ari Rangel added a key block at the net.
  • Kaeleigh Flora powered through with 8 kills and 6 digs.
  • Ava “Birthday Girl” Layman celebrated in style with 11 kills, 7 digs, and 2 aces.
  • Madi Zedeker ran the offense with 32 assists, while also adding 6 digs, 4 aces, and a block.
  • Kelsie Snapp was a standout on both ends with 11 kills, 15 digs, 2 aces, and a block.
  • The Varsity team improves to 8-1 overall and 2-1 in CBC Kenton Trail play.

JV Red secured a 2-set win with scores of 25-20 and 25-10.

  • Ava Oppy led the way with 10 digs, 4 kills, and 6 aces.
  • Zoey Conner added 8 kills and 4 aces.
  • Lexi McKirahan contributed 7 digs.
  • Brooklyne Kuntz had 4 digs and 2 aces.
  • Lexey Brown chipped in with 3 kills.
  • Celine Blinn added 2 digs and near-perfect serving.

  • Rosie Lightle set the offense in motion with 10 assists.

JV Black fought through a competitive match to earn a 3-set victory: 25-21, 20-25, 25-15.

  • Airane Moser led the offense with 11 kills and 3 aces.
  • Hailey Augustus added 7 kills, 7 digs, and 3 aces.
  • Rosie Lightle was a force at the service line, going 25/26 with 7 aces, while also contributing 26 assists and 5 digs.
  • Lexi McKirahan led the defense with 15 digs, and added 4 kills and an ace.
  • Diana Martinez had 4 kills and 7 digs.
  • Madylin Jenkins added 4 digs and 3 aces.
  • Addison Smith contributed 4 kills, and
  • Rylyn Hoskins-Rose added a kill.

The Chiefs are back in action Thursday on the road at Kenton Ridge.

The West Liberty-Salem Tigers hosted Greenon Tuesday night in an exciting Ohio Heritage Conference matchup. The Tigers dominated the court, sweeping the Knights in three straight sets: 25-18, 25-16, 25-23.
