Indian Lake takes two from Benjamin Logan; Graham topples Shawnee

It was close, but Indian Lake pulled away from the Benjamin Logan Raiders late in a 4-2 victory in game 1 of a doubleheader on Wednesday.

The game was tied at two in the top of the fifth when Madden Lillard doubled, scoring two runs.

Indian Lake got on the board in the top of the first inning after Benjamin Logan committed an error, and Tyler Tidwell grounded out, each scoring one run.

Indian Lake returned the favor in the third by committing an error of their own, helping Benjamin Logan tie the game at two in the bottom of the third.

Lillard stepped on the bump first for Indian Lake, giving up three hits and two runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out five and walking one, but it was Tidwell who earned the win for Indian Lake. The reliever surrendered four hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out four and walking none. Bryden Morris took the loss for Benjamin Logan Varsity Raiders. The hurler went four and one-third innings, giving up four runs on three hits, striking out nine, and walking three.

Carter Lyden led the Raiders with two hits and two stolen bases. Benjamin Logan also turned one a double play in the game.

Lillard led Indian Lake with two RBIs. The senior went 2-for-2 on the day. Indian Lake also had patience at the plate, piling up six walks for the game. Lillard and Colten Corcoran led the team with two walks each.

In game 2, it was Indian Lake on top once again, winning 2-1 on the final play of the game.

The game was tied at one in the bottom of the seventh when Burton was struck by a pitch with bases loaded, bringing in the game-winning run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Laker pitchers struck out six, while the Raiders sat down five.

Indian Lake got on the board in the second inning after Cyrus Cummings singled in a run. Cummings went 2 for 3 on the night.

Soli Hughes singled down the right field line, which helped Benjamin Logan tie the game at one in the top of the third.

Jaxon Snipes earned the win for Indian Lake. He gave up four hits and one run over seven innings, striking out six and walking one. Adam Tinsman took the loss for the Raiders, going six and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on six hits, striking out five, and walking three.

Cayden Brown, Parker Yelton, Hughes, and Carter Lyden each collected hits for Benjamin Logan.

Next up for Benjamin Logan is against Jonathan Alder on Friday. Indian Lake is at Tecumseh.

 

The Graham Falcons won big over Shawnee 11-1 on Wednesday.

Graham got on the board early after Owen Powell hit a sacrifice fly in the first, scoring one.

The Falcons added to their early lead in the top of the second, after Carsen Rogers taps an RBI single, and Zach Wheeland sacrifices in a run.

But that wasn’t all for Graham. Adam Levy doubled down the left field line, making the score 4-0 in the third.

Levy led things off on the mound for Graham, giving up two hits and no runs over six innings, striking out five and walking one. Brody Jenkins appeared in relief for Graham. Mason Reeder stepped on the hill first for Shawnee, handing the Falcons 10 hits and seven runs (three earned) over five innings, striking out two and walking one.

The Falcons tallied 15 hits in the game. Levy drove the middle of the lineup, going 2-for-4 on the day and adding three RBIs to his season.

Holden Dunham and Carsen Rogers each collected three hits for Graham. Jack Traylor collected two hits.

Kaiden Roeder, Daniel Webb, and Blake Bowen each collected a hit for Shawnee.

Graham will travel to London on Friday for their next game. Shawnee hosts Bellefontaine tonight.

 

Despite a 5-run deficit in the third inning, the Bellefontaine Chiefs rallied only to fall to London 5-4 in the first of two on Wednesday.

Zylar Huffman, Sutton Daring, Brody Boy, Patrick Stolly, Spencer Stolly, Luke Levan, and Even Caudill each collected hits for the Chiefs.

Stolly stepped on the bump first for the Bellefontaine Varsity Chiefs. The southpaw gave up three hits and four runs (one earned) over one and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking two. Levan pitched three innings in relief for the Chiefs . The righty surrendered zero hits and zero runs while striking out one and walking one.

In game 2, the Chiefs lose another tough one, 11-0.

Jose Sandoval led things off on the hill for the Bellefontaine Varsity Chiefs. The righty surrendered three hits and five runs (one earned) over five innings.

Brody Boy, Sandoval, and Caudill each collected hits for Bellefontaine.

Next up for the Chiefs is a game at Shawnee on Thursday.
