The Indian Lake boys wrestling team turned in an impressive performance at the Defiance Tri-State Border Wars, held December 29–30, finishing sixth overall in a highly competitive 54-team field representing four states.
The Lakers crowned four place winners during the two-day tournament, led by senior heavyweight Christopher Timms, who advanced to the championship match and earned a second-place finish. His run highlighted a strong showing across multiple weight classes for Indian Lake.
Jordan Henderson added a podium finish at 132 pounds, placing third, while Keyshawn Blackwell claimed fourth place at 120 pounds. Brayden Riffell also contributed to the team score with a seventh-place finish at 126 pounds, and Bronx Dickson placed eighth at 150 pounds.
Just missing the podium was JJ Shirk at 138 pounds, who posted a 3–2 record and finished one win shy of placing. Additional wins came from several Lakers, including Lucas Chamberlain (190), Dalton Fullerton (157), Gabe McDermitt (113), and Zaiden Bates (165), all of whom helped boost the team’s overall standing in the deep field.
With the strong tournament finish behind them, the Lakers will return to the mat next Saturday in Marysville for a dual tournament hosted by the Monarchs.
