Jackson Center and Benjamin Logan victorious in Quest Cup first round

The first round of the Quest Cup was played Friday evening at Benjamin Logan.

In the first game, Jackson Center defeated Calvary Christian 4-0.

In the second game, Benjamin Logan defeated Springfield City 3-1.

After a 0-0 first half, Even Carpenter scored off an Eric Hughes assist just 6 minutes into the second half only to be matched 4 minutes later by the Wildcats to again even the score.

With about 20 minutes to go, Carter Lyden passed to Ethan Miller who took a touch and found the bottom left corner of the goal to put the Raiders up 2-1.

Carpenter then once again smashed in his second goal to give the Raiders a little breathing room with 9 minutes remaining. The game was both teams’ first of the season.

The Raiders will take on the Tigers of Jackson Center Saturday in the championship game at 7:30.

Calvary and Springfield will play in the consolation game starting at 5:30.

After the second game, there will be the trophy presentation and selection of the all-tournament team.
