The Calvary Christian Spartans’ JV squad earned a 3-1 victory against the Bellefontaine Chieftains on Thursday night at Acusport Stadium.
The Spartans took an early lead with a well-executed play. Mak Kariuki and Kole Gantz combined to create an opportunity, and after Mak’s shot was fumbled by the goalie, Seth Palmer capitalized to score.
The first half saw strong defensive efforts from both teams, but Calvary Christian took control in the second half. Kole Gantz added another goal with 25 minutes remaining, followed by Xavier Church, who finished off a cross from Elijah Navarro to seal the win.
Marcos Cerda and Maddie Freeland contributed valuable minutes, while Annagail Lambert and Blythe Lowe pressed hard in the final ten minutes of the match. Bellefontaine managed to avoid a shutout with a late goal, a low shot into the right corner.
Brody Prall recorded 3 saves to secure the win for the Spartans.
